Hi everyone,

I've recently moved away from Qantas to Virgin and and currently Gold Status in the Virgin Camp.

Next year I'm hoping to using some points to get myself and my wife to Europe and back in Business using points.

They are currently sitting in my AMEX Account presently but I'll transfer them soon. I was just wondering what experience some of you have had at getting Business seats on Virgin or Partner carriers?

I'll be travelling in August/Sept 2020 so will be looking hard from October this year for seats.

Preferred routing would be Brisbane to Copenhagen in August then London back home to Brisbane in September.

Thanks in advance.

Wayne

Generally I always converted them to SQ and redeemed flights much easier. But with the conversion it's much more points. However, to Europe there are a lot of redemption tickets so most of my points were converted prior to the change.

Thanks, I have the option of moving points from AMEX to SQ however I don't have any status with them. Only Virgin. I assume this would be taken into consideration?

Thanks

Wayne.

You can book SQ and then change your FF# to VA
Sorry, I guess my question is If I transfer my points to my Virgin that I currently hold Gold Status would I have a better chance at securing Business flights via the Virgin System as opposed to joining Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer where I have No Status and transferring my point to SQ.

Assuming that you're booking an award on SQ, availability is better with Krisflyer. Fees are higher though.

Ok, makes sense. I don't mind paying higher fees to get the Business Seats. Thanks, appreciate the comments.

Have flown SQ J rewards in the AN days.
Not sure which type of plane EY uses, I think they still fly BNE - AUH?
Or they do not fly from/BNE anymore...
Other way is VS via HKG, and there is a scary story.
OR you could go via SYD/MEL as a domestic pax, and then EY to CPH.
Haven't flown EY/VS so can't say about them, but SQ is very good.
Probably their lounge ranges would be best of all, and SIN is a good smallish airport and city to stop over, not saying HKG airport is bad, but its huge, and they have more typhoons etc up there.
Not saying AUH is bad, all depends on what you want to see and do, I guess, some people like the dry desert heat, some like the humid heat of SIN.

If you want to start your SQ KF account, you could do a cheapish MEL - WLG holiday in Dec with SQ.
It won't be KF SG level to start, but you would get your account started that way.
If you do do the NZ holiday, just fly VA as a domestic pax, with VFF # BNE - MEL.

EY still brings 787 Dreamliners still to Brisbane.

Availability in Business class is good (1-2 seats most days) however nothing in Economy and $400+ taxes oneway.

Don't need any status to book SQ reward seats and you don't need to fly to add credit card points to it.

Status won't matter

Exactly... unlike Qantas, your status on Virgin won't matter if you're looking for reward seats - everyone (even those who created an account 5 minutes ago) has access to the same availability.

On SQ the same can be said except for those with PPS status earned after spending S$25,000+ per year on Singapore Airlines/Silk Air Business and First class flights only. They have access to a slightly greater rewards pool but everyone else is left with the same.

SQ does however release reward seats based on routings...

BNE-SIN might only have 2 reward seats released whilst BNE-SIN-KUL might have 5 despite the BNE-SIN being the same flight.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
