I'm guessing as it was parked all the systems were off and therefore no hydraulic pressure...

Or the pilot wants to have a look as part of the pre flight inspection, I always do it.

I have seen a Qlink B717 taxiing out to RWY 01 at BNE with thrust reversers deployed - is it possible to do a reverse take-off??

Kind of funny that both makes are hitting their strides in popularity some years after they ceased production. There are some worrying trends in Aviation, with no real replacement for the regional turboprops like the Saabs being made and no clear stand out replacement for the 100 seater jets for local conditions.

To early to tell, Bombardier have already discovered it is harder to make airliners than jets and their order book is very underwhelming given the age of existing fleets out there.

Again not yet flying commercially or a success from an orders perspective, from a supplier with no recent experience in the field. Airlines dont want to go down the EMB170 mistake path again.
