My first ever business class flight is coming up this week. I've asked a slightly different question previously and the answers have been most helpful.

I understand that my business class ticket will give me access to the Cathay Pacific business class lounge at Melbourne but it has been suggested Qantas offers a better facility.

Can I choose to use the Qantas facility? If so, how do I do that with a CX ticket and boarding pass?

I plan to arrive at Tullamarine with plenty of time and appreciate my flight (CX 134) is often delayed.

Again, apologies if my questions seem a little naive but it's a first (and possibly one time) experience for me - in my senior years.

Thanks; pn1

Yes, you can use the QF lounge. Just show your CX J boarding pass. You can also visit the CX lounge before or after if you have time to compare. Have fun!

While they are both close to each other and both in the MEL T2 basement, I've found the CX lounge to be better then the QF J lounge.

Agreed but only marginally. Depending on day QF can have better food. EK best option.

But can one with a CX boarding pass use the EK lounge?

No. Only QF pax can use the EK lounges. CX will limit you to CX or QF. The CX lounge at MEL is pretty small and basic. The QF lounge is dire. It's a toss up between the two in terms of racing to the bottom. But you can lounge hop.

I would not be getting to the airport early tfor the sole purpose of experiencing the lounges... on board will be far superior.
