The catch to it, is that you have to join the Club Catch program, which comes with a fee.
But if you do want to buy items, that you need, and can afford the Club Catch annual fee of Aud$69, go and join Club Catch.
Then link your FB points to that, and then transfer your FB points to VFF points.
I have bought from Catch, and no I don't have any fiduciary/financial interest in it.
Of course right now, a lot of us are not moving any points into VFF, but if Bain does make it, and their new VFF system of operations are fair, ie, no fees to VFF (*** forbid, scary thought), this is another way of keeping our VFF points alive...
Via catch, and via FB.
Please delete if this "plug" breaches the rules of AFF.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

But Catch is already an estore with Velocity so points will go to VFF directly. What am I missing?

10x/20x the FB points bonus for first sign up, and first purchase tho.
Grated, this is another example of them trying to get a profit or earn as much from us as possible.
Guess the main aim is they want us to join club catch, in the first instance, and then regularly buy.

You don't actually have to join their program though. You can still earn the 1pt per dollar + the one off 10pts per dollar on first transaction. Good way to triple dip. Earn either VFF or QF points through the portal, earn the bonus Flybuys plus earn from the credit card. For now I've been exclusively using the Flybuys Coles credit card and keeping the points in Flybuys as I feel thats a safer option for the time being as the supermarkets no doubt are doing it better than the airlines.

Thanks but no thanks :) Thank you for posting though.

Catch is mostly overseas rubbish and VFF I am avoiding for a few years I think :)

Don't want to nit pick, but a lot of things are now overseas made, like it or not.
Aust now does not even make any commercial aircrafts.
If in your words you are avoiding VFF for a few years, you might loose your points.
Best to let some small amount of points trickle into your account, even how we have to now wait for a month and a half to see what Bain will announce.
I am using VGW, some are using "true" credit cards.

You can do a free catch club trial, thereby earning the 20x Flybuys points. I ended up on the website yesterday while looking for an exact replacement for my beloved trail runners. Unfortunately the reason it was the cheapest option in the google results was because it was an old model so no purchase, but I would have got a decent number of points otherwise.

Sure are, but there is a massive movement to support local business, heightened by the fact we have so many people unemployed thanks to covid. By buying locally made and owned as a priority people can support the economy and our fellow citizens more directly.

There are huge Facebook groups now on buying Aussie made and owned products and shops are seeing huge surges in demand for them which is really wonderful, for all of us.

I am personally just trying to spend my dollars more locally these days.

Didn’t realise Catch sold commercial aircraft and thankfully for my credit card I’m not looking to buy one either :) :)

My issue with Catch is it is predominantly overseas made and their ‘country source of origin’ field is often mysteriously blank...;)

But when it comes to flying again I will be trying to support the ‘most’ Australian airline possible!

Good point, thankfully I was able to quickly use up all my old VA1 points before the airline collapsed (thanks to excellence advice from this forum) - so I’m not personally in situation where I have to try and keep my Velocity account alive.

I do know others though who are stuck in the same boat as you and I do feel for you.

I wonder if you'd still be eligible for the 20x points offer if the 10x points offer has already been used:

Good to see another points earning potential with Catch. I was wondering why Flybuys wasn't on offer considering the Wesfarmers ownership. However, I had a feeling flybuys would be on offer soon since the K Hub launch in regional Australia.

We can now earn points from multiple sources when shopping with Catch:

  • Qantas or Velocity points via their estores
  • CC points
  • Qantas points with Afterpay (if you qualify for the points)
  • Flybuys points

Kogan is a major competitor of Catch and they offer Qantas points on purchases. I consider Qantas points to be more valuable, but Flybuys is still good for those of us collecting Velocity points whenever possible.

Catch was good when it first began about 12 years ago or so as Catch of the day. They had some genuine proper brand name products at special prices (one a day). But now it is just a mass market online shop and most of the products are cheap cough sadly. They still have the occasional bargain but sadly a lot of the items are fake / similar to the no-frills brands you can find on ebay. I have come across more and more fake products from them too. Aka cologne / perfume but also food products. Like even hubba bubba etc where initially they were getting the proper products then i ordered some more after they had run out of stock and gotten new stock, and it was totally different and ...long story but definitely fake.

Other issue is a lot of their food items etc looks the same but imported from cheaper overseas countries where the item doesnt taste the same or have the same texture . As well as a lot of their items are close to the end of the BB / expiry dates.

But again they have so many items that there are always some decent prices on there if you look around.

Anyone know if you still get points if you use catch gift cards?
