Have just received an email from Qantas advising of a positive change to their Captain's Choice tours.

Nice. Seeing you are usually flying on Qantas planes, it makes a nice change.

However, there is no difference in SCs/FFPs based on flight class or status level.

We get the Captains choice brochures but the main reason is to avoid their cruises.;)
We can put together the same itinerary for less and do prefer being independent travellers.

My mother did a CC tour a couple of years ago and flew J in LAN to South America.
She hated the J product and said she would never fly them again. I don'd know if she thought she would be flying QF but there's nothing like doing a bit of research.

Check out the price :shock::shock: of the linked tour.
$41,999 in J for 21 days!!!
You'd certainly want double the 25,000 QFF points and 400 SCs for paying that amount!

There is a bit of trivia re the Captain's Choice in this article from a Port Macquarie magazine

Helen Ross : Greater Port Macquarie Focus

They are now running J & H Tours and are also organising a 737-800 trip from PQQ to MEL to coincide with the PQQ upgrade. Looking at their new company the pricing structure seems similar to Captains Choice:shock:

same here. do get some good ideas from their brochures

This is good to hear but I wont be taking any of their trips any time soon... that sort of cash!

I think I need to wait until I reach the average age for tours/cruises like these - another couple of decades away for me ;):D:mrgreen:

Totally agree with this! We did look at doing one of the Qantas/CC ones a few years ago but when we worked out how many people would be doing it at the same time (even with the reduced seat occupancy) it totally put us off!

Abercrombie and Kent are good for ideas as well. We might even use them when we go to Galapagos, as they have a good small group cruise there.

Sanctuary which is part of Abercrombie and Kent now operate the Athala 2 which is the vessel we went on in the Galapagos. Was run by a local company then.Nothing wrong with the vessel but service was hit and miss. With A&K involved that should be better. It was very comfortable with large cabins.

Thanks I will file that info away :). We are looking at Galapagos next year or year after.

My annual salary without the rent, airfares and tax.

I was afraid to click on link. How much for economy?

It's for the newly wed or the nearly dead, you I'm afraid are neither ;)

If it's Captain's Choice, can we choose the Captain? ;)
