Ahhh I'm so happy right now... i thought it was next to impossible to get to upgrade on this flight...

I'm sitting in 3k at the moment, 2,3,4,5k are available at the moment, and the middle 3 seat as well. Please let me know if I should change but I figured 3k was the furthest point from both the lavs and the galley... I don't really want the middle seat either if no one has to climb over me to get to the aisle...

Was that for points or operational freebie?
We have had 5 points upgrades to QF A380 First.
It is a lovely way to travel.

Gumpy - you have me mystified - having travelled in the F section of the A380 a few times on points - there is no way that anyone has to clijmb over you to get to the aisle as all seats are in effect aisle seats. I've sat in almost all positions, and none of them (except the very back seats) has a problem with regards the lavs and galley - so just enjoy!

sorry in my excitment I didn't write properly.

I normally avoid window seats cause in J people have to climb over you, but seeing it's not an issue with F I don't want to sit in the middle.

and yes it was a points upgrade. I just didn't hold my breath because I read somewhere on this forum they missed out over 50% of the time for the LAX SYD flights and then the MEL LAX flights were a better bet...

Might even be easier BNE/LAX to get award seats come January on QF15 if the rumour is correct & will then be operated by the A380.

Congrats gumpy! Enjoy!

I don't think any seat is a 'bad' one in F. :)

FWIW the only A380 F I did was in 1A (was put there on a full flight, no opportunity to change), and whilst I did sight the occasional pax wandering to/from the lav, had no particular issues with it. I've chosen 3A for a couple of future flights.

Congrats.

Live the highlife. Now the only problem will be going back to J :)

.... or Y (heaven forbid) :!: :D

I know :(

My last A380 flight was in Y (80A at least), and I spent the whole time longing for F (or at least J).

I also glanced over at the regular Y seating and wondered to myself how you could possibly do it (and I'm not legroom challenged).

I don't intend to come off sounding precious.... but it is AWFULLY hard to go back to sitting in the back of the bus :)

my goodness... it was awesome...
there is a tangible difference between J and F... who would have thought.

Usually in J I want to hurt myself by the 9th hour of the flight. This time I was happy all the way to the landing. The food was fresh, tasty and healthy, service was fantastic, they pre-empted what you wanted, ie PJ sizes, preparing the bed, taking away the mattress, breakfast timing etc...

I got about 8.5 hrs sleep, the bed was very comfortable when prepared for sleep. Only two hiccups on the flight, 1. one of the window paper curtains disconnected and fell down. 2. towards the end of the flight (last 1.5 hrs) my roof lights started to go on and off...

Not very likely for me to ever experience this again and though i'm glad to have experienced it once getting off the plane made me sad. To everyone out there who hasn't tried F before yes it is worth the 45k sc's for the upgrade if you can get it.

Now... back to Y domestic flights...

Well done Gumpy, sounds like you had a great time.

My very first A380 experience was in F, and it was a great way to experience a great aircraft. But I was also sad when I disembarked in LA.

Thanks for reporting back!

That makes me look forward to my FASA in October! :)

Sounds like you had a wonderful experience.

Can't believe that you got any sleep? Why weren't you awake the whole time using all the facilities and eating and drinking as much as you can :)

Glad that you had an awesome F experience!

WHAT - you mean there are other parts of the plane apart from J and F?????? You sure?????

Seriously, I love flying the A380, even in J. Have found that you don't have to climb over the aisle person on the A380 - there is enough room between the 'end' of their bed and the seat in front to go around, and I am not the smallest of person.

Mind you, I much prefer the lambswool underlay and doona sheet that you get in F - as if the better drink etc is not also good. On a Syd-Lhr trip I usually get about 8-9 hours sleep on the long leg - so up and ready for the day once on the ground again.

Hmmm - reminds me, I do need to make a booking soon - might try a RTW ticket, now that tmy Flying Blue level has been granted.

Am tooo sooo jealous. Report bac so we can enjoy. Is there a bad seat in F !!!! Noo
