Hi All,

I'm planning an upcoming trip overseas, wanting to fly the return leg in business class.

At the moment, a business award fare for the return leg is waitlisted.

A one way fare to the destination is $530 in Y, and a return is $760 in Y.

I'm thinking of booking a return fare in Y for $760, to hedge myself against the risk of the wait list not clearing. If the wait list does clear, I won't be needing the return component of the return Y fare. Is it possible to cancel this leg and get the taxes refunded? If so, is this better done before flying the first leg, or after?

If you cancel, I believe they will reassess the fare (to one-way fare) and refund you the difference between a return and one way fare, minus any change fees - if the ticket allows changes.
