Cancelling Card Any Impact on Rewards Account?

Probably a dumb question, but I'd never been with ANZ before.

Does cancelling a card have any affect on your rewards account? Just acquired the ANZ bonus points, but would rather not keep the card until the next Velocity transfer bonus period.

Page 16:

"13. In the event your card account is closed, any RewardPoints that remain unused must be used within 60days of the date of closure. Reward Points thatremain unused after that period will be cancelled."

My wife almost lost a bunch of points earlier in the year, but we managed to get to it just in time.
