Hi I saw on an article here a year ago that Qantas business class passengers travelling on the overnight flight from Perth to Brisbane could access the business lounge upon arrival in Brisbane, but Qantas has just told me that’s not the case... has anyone had any recent experience where they were able to? Thanks.

I've certainly used the Qantas Bus Lounges on arrival (as a WP) in Brisbane, Melbourne & Sydney in recent years. Where did you get the advice from Qantas? e.g. website, phone...

It was a service agent via Messenger on their FB page.
I very much doubt the quality of the service provided by these sources. It is the agents at the lounge doors who matter most.

Generally, members here from experience know far more than those who operate 3rd party messenger/SMS/telephone services.

Yep that’s what I figured... thanks, we’ll ask at the lounge. Thanks for the help.

Will do! It’s not til April though... we land at 6am and have 2 hours to kill before we can pick up our rental campervan : )

Lounge access after your flight is a published benefit for Platinum.
it’s not AFAIK a published benefit for trans-con red eye passengers in J.
It’s noted here and has been reported successfully here and a few other websites but there is nothing currently on the Qantas website stating this.

Yes, we’re going to give it a go and see what happens. Thanks : )

Once upon a time as a WP you had access to Qantas lounges anytime, even if you weren't flying.

OP, if you are not Platinum, then its the fare of travel that determines your access

The issue here is that the flight is overnight, so its not the "same day", and there is no onward boarding pass in J to gain you entry into the lounge at your destination.

It's no longer published since they revamped the website last year, but still in effect it seems.

Its mentioned under the Status benefits:

Lounge Access
Platinum members can enjoy access to a world of lounge privileges when your next onward flight is on a Qantas39, Emirates39, Jetstar Airlines4, China Eastern or oneworld member airline operated and marketed flight29 regardless of class of travel.

Domestic lounge access before or after your flight

  • Qantas Business Lounges in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra offering a dedicated space, increased privacy and a range of business services.
  • Qantas Clubs located around Australia offering a place to unwind before your next domestic flight.
Access Domestic Business Lounges or the Qantas Club upon arrival if you have travelled that day on any flight with a Qantas (QF), Jetstar Airline (JQ, 3K, BL or GK), Emirates (EK), China Eastern (MU)or a oneworld® member airline flight number on your ticket.

I should specify - I’m not a platinum member, just travelling in business class, and read on this website that an overnight flight PER to BNE would qualify me. I’ll just see how we go when we try in April. By the way what is a WP and an OP?

WP means "Platinum status" in AFF lingo, and OP stands for "Original Poster" (which is you in this case). :)

Flying J next week PER-SYD day flight. Will try access with boarding pass and hide WP status. Just flashing the WP card always works, boarding pass or not.
