Hi all, Qantas ff site shows return flights to hongkong, flying business class using 120,000 points. Can some one please explain how we would aquire these flights as I cant seem to find any for the advertised points, regards mark.

When are you looking to fly? These classic redemptions are in limited supply, so there is every chance you need to wait until QF release more classic availability, or pay the extra points for a JASA.

Thjanks for your response, pity you cant just click on the availability next to these advertised flights and go straight to them, it would save a lot of time.

Check the box For flexible with dates so you can see a whole month at once, 120k is the standard price...look at Any Seat Awards also as you will earn points and status credits.

Slightly off topic, is there much difference between qantas and jetstar business class. I suspect there would be. As long as you could get a jim beam on jetstar I dont think i would worry.

When are you looking at going?

What this site is very good at is helping out in such situations. There are tricks (i.e expert flyer) to help find you the flight availability that you are looking for.

FWIW, luck does help. In terms of JQ v QF Business class. JQ is like Domestic Business Class on QF. If you are after a better experience, I wouldn't go for JQ.

I probably be looking around october/november for this flight mannej. I dont really worry about the service its mainly comfort for me. domestic business with qantas is ok. International business with thai was great. All airline food is only soso with me, as long as i can get a bourbon/coke and comfy seat does it for me.

It will be easier to secure classic award seats on CX.....depending on your circumstances this might be a better fit. It's not the best way to use points but on the SYD-HGK-SYD route it's the easiest way to get J seats. Also, with QF, if you don't get the A380 you are looking at a sloping bed rather than fully flat!

I've found last minute bookings to be plentiful with CX & if like me you need 4 or 5 tickets, it's really the only way.

Thanks amaroo, i noticed that cathay seemed to have business seats available, the way to go i think.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
