Hi fellow frequent flyers

I noticed our good old singapore airlines have decided to fly the new A350 from Brisbane :) I am thinking of flying J class next year from Brisbane to Singapore return and have never flown the A350 or the Boeing 777. From experience, is it worth to do it one way each on both of these aircrafts, or is it better just to stick to the A350 since its newer? Thank you in advance for your help. Cheers

Personally I would choose the a350 both ways if possible as newer

EDIT: unless you can get the new 777 J, which I'm not sure. If its the old 777 J then the A350 definitely purely for the fact its newer.

I flew on the SQ A350 in J to Munich & back in July and was great.

I believe the B777-200ERs used to BNE have the "refitted" J - which I gather is more or less the same as the A350. Hope so anyway, as we are flying it later this year. But even with similar seating, I would imagine the A350 would be a bit quieter, and therefore a nicer trip.

IIRC there haven't been great reviews of the SQ A350 J hard product, especially in terms of foot space, which is apparently a lot more cramped than other aircraft. I'd do one way in the A50 and the other on the 777 (provided it is also a 1-2-1 layout)

Cabin atmosphere pressure is kept at a lower altitude in the A350, so maybe you'll arrive fresher.

Take the A350'- I fly SQ on the BNE route frequently and they quite often change the B777 to the 2-2-2 configurations at the last minute - they aren't pleasant to sleep on.On the A350 you're guaranteed of a private seat. I've flown on both on SQ and would take the A350 regardless - it's also the more modern cabin.

I've recently been on the A350-900, 777-300ER and 777-200 in J.
The 777-200 (as flown between BNE & SIN) is definitely of a lower standard than the other two.
Get on the 350 if you can.

We are flying on SQ 235 soon on an award booking to KUL via SIN (A330-300). During the booking process it states that lounge access and priority boarding are not permitted. Can anyone advise how strictly this is enforced?

How did you book this (through SQ or another FF program?), what's your class of service? And if in economy, what FF status do you have? (with which program)

I'm red with Velocity and I booked business class fares on the Velocity website. The message was displayed on the Virgin website. I've been able to log in to my SQ account to assign seats and book the cook. It was the same price and points to fly to KUL as it was to SIN. So KUL seemed a good side track considering we've not been there.

A business class award will attract all the usual amenities including lounge access and priority boarding. The message is just a glitch in relation to your booking (shouldn't have displayed).

Fantastic I really appreciate it! I'm getting a free ride to the airport well ahead of check in time so this is welcome news.

Depends on your fare class, if it's J, I believe ur still entitled to all the SQ service and lounge access, it's only the ticket it's virgin, but the rest goes by SQ rules, cheers

Thx guys for the input, sorry it took so long, didn't realise that people replied and it didn't cone into my inbox for alerts. Decided to stay with 1 way each cuz don't think SQ would be happy for us to change without a few, hopefully it's the new 777, will keep you guys posted. Cheers

I know OP's question was regarding J but the 777 Y offering does seem to have gone down from the 330, the IFE screen resolution and selection is not as good. Leg space does seem better expect for the IFE box on aisle seats.....
Hopefully Y in the A350 is a step up....

Thanks again for the prompt reply. I did indeed have lounge access. I was pretty dusty from a late night so the food and champagne were appreciated.

Hi All,
We are travelling Singapore Airlines A350-900 Brisbane to Singapore in May, 2018 then in an Airbus A380 to Paris. We are going the way of premium economy and I believe Singapore Airlines supply Phitek noise cancelling headphones. Has anybody got any feedback on how good/not so good they are.

I was considering buying a pair of Bose headphones.

Many thanks

Paul

I'm sure they won't be as good as Bose but I was surprised on how good they actually were! I had my expectations very low.

If you travel long haul quite a bit then I'd say get the Bose, for the odd trip here or there the PEY ones on SIA will be plenty
