Greetings all
I will be travelling QF29 to HKG and LHR next month. I am a particularly good plane sleeper ( lucky me) and so I was contemplating skipping the breakfast onboard just before landing and just filling my stomach in the J lounge, but what is the breakfast like in the lounge and what is the selection like? Cereals, a bit of toast maybe? I don't need a fryup or anything just some carbs and maybe a bit of fibre. I have had some poor QF/BA lounge food experiences in the past so I just thought I would check.
Any views will be greatly appreciated

Pretty certain there's no fry up - more likely yum cha and possibly one or two other hot items. You might be able to order a focaccia, depending on how busy it is. Cereals / toast etc should be fine.

If you do want something more substantial, see if you can find someone to guest you in to one of the CX lounges. :)

I can't remember exactly what was there but I recall being satisfied with the breakfast. In fact, my recollection is that it was better than the QF F lounge (apart from the ice creams).

you only have access by virtue of a qantas club card? if you have access by other means such as gold, or if you are travelling in business class, then I would suggest using the Cathay cabin lounge. they have nice hot toasted sandwiches and freshly squeezed juices.

Thanks for the pompt replies guys

Yes travelling in QF J and i have been doing alittle reading here on the subject of cathay lounges. any advice greatly received with particular relevance to proximity to the departure gate

QF gate is a couple mins walk to the qantas club, but the CX lounges are superior with food offerings so if you have access go there. From memory the walk is maybe 15-20 mins away, so just allow that time. Better yet if you can access the CX first lounges next to the J lounge. They have chefs to cook orders and outstanding day cabana style rooms with lounges, bath & shower. Nothing better than a few hrs spent in there. It's inside the CX F lge.

I really liked the breakfast in The Cabin (CX) opposite gate 22 - entrance just after the first travellator stops on the left. Lift or stairs down.
Breakfast was a mix of hot and cold, fresh juices, food made to order, take away stuffs also.
I loved The Cabin more so than The Wing.

I would definetely be paying a visit to the newly opened Wing at Gate 2 over the QF lounge (it has windows!), food is made to order and of a much higher standard.

Isn't QF J alone no longer sufficient for access to a CX lounge?

Might be worth trying to find someone who can guest you in.

No it isn't. You must be travelling in J on that carrier. It was mentioned a while back. OWS and OWE are still able to.
