A friend sent me a link to an app on facebook for a 'boys weekend away' type holiday package from Virgin Blue called a breakation? It looked reasonable enough, but I've never bought a package deal (through anyone) - has anyone been on a package holiday with these guys? Has anyone been on a boys weekend package - looking to do something like this for a mate before he gets married. I liked the VB one because it inlcuded a round of golf, but not sure if this kinda thing is standard.

I've trying to find similar stuff - does anyone have suggestions on boys weekend type packages I can check out?

Welcome to AFF!

Key useful information would be where you are based, what your budget is, what sort of activities you were thinking of, when you were thinking of doing this? :)

I’ll have a look at the app…

Edit: I can’t find the app, but if you post the URL, adding gaps in it (as you’re too new to post links) then I’ll take a look. All I could find was one deal on the Virgin Blue website, which didn’t look too good only offering 9-holes of golf… who plays just 9?

If you are referring to Blue Holidays I have booked a number of these this year as they offer last minute prices on the airfares which are very competitive.

@ samh004 Thanks for the welcome! :)

I'm based in Brisbane, and I would like to keep the budget under $1,000 total for me and freind (wouldn't mind travelling interstate), would be looking to do this in February (probably either 2 or 3rd weekend).

The link to the app is: www . facebook.com . au/ virgin blue ? v=app_16859 7386 486748 (i hope you can discipher that).

@Mal
I did check that out, but I couldn't find a getaway that wasn't a romantic one :p (after page 4 I gave up) - but the golf experiences themselves were pretty good (the hunter valley one looked kind of awesome).
I guess there is alwasy the option to try and get a cheap fare from one of the airlines and grab a dael from redballoon - time to investigate. Thanks for the suggestion:)

@yohy!
Yes, on second look it is blue holidays. I just saw the VB logo and assumed it was all coming from them.

Thanks for the link: Virgin Blue | Facebook

They actually look quite good value, though all are at Hamilton Island!

I realise this is a frequent flyer program, but do you need to fly anywhere, plenty of golf courses in the SE.

I did think about just going down to the GC and going to maybe Royal Pines? but Hamilton Island was what I liked about that breakation package. Has that "escape" (from the fiance :p) factor about it.

Costed out redballon + flights and accom seperately, but didn't really have any benefit apart from differnet golf courses. Thinking Hamo Island might be the way to go.

Thanks for all your help guys (and girls?)!

Also - totally random question - does anyone know how I change my avatar pic?

I live at Royal Pines and the course is looking very nice, drained well from all the recent rain, but also been closed a lot lately with the rain… I don’t think it’s that great value!
