I grew up very close to some of the worst of the fires. we have many friends who have lost homes, and several people still unaccounted for. But that's another story......

Myself and a group of Australian's based in New England are organizing a wine tasting fund raiser for Saturday the 21st. We are running a raffle and auction amongst other things and I've been given some free flights at my friends at LH, but was wondering if anybody had any contacts at Qantas or V or (or UA or anybody) we can approach for something similar.

The demographic is pretty high, so the exposure is going to be very good. We already have several local companies donating significant sums, and involvement of the local diplomatic community, Harvard University , MIT and the Boston and Cambridge fire brigades.

We are very fortunate to have a strong Aussie expat community here, and strong support from other expats. The British Consul gave us their function room for the event.

Any help with contacts would much appreciated.

Well done for standing by your country in time of tragedy.:)

Winetraveller,

I've sent you two PM's with some info on contacts in the US.

All the best.

Great Job. Well done. I can't help with contacts unfortunately.

The more fundraisers the better. I am involved in Trivia night for one family this weekend who lost their house...so not as grand as yours. But all help is good help, and it all adds up.

Like you too, I know two people that are missing , with their house burnt down...and with no news and it now being Weds the odds do not look good.

Unfortunately there are still many missing. Some will be holed up with family...but many will not be unfortunately. :(

Yesterday we had our fundraiser, and as a result have raised in excess of USD$50,000. To those that helped me with contacts, thank-you.

We were amazed by response. I have to say it makes Qantas' AUD$100,000 look a little shabby.

well done winetraveller and all who were associated with the effort. A great job that I am sure will be greatly appreciated by those who will benefit after their great suffering.
