Does anyone know if it's possible to book say larnaca to Malta on EK with a QF flight number? And How?

I can book DXB to Malta thru QF but not from larnaca. No I can't go to DXB for this trip as I live in Qatar.

Login to QF and try. If not you can call them and ask.

That is a very interesting situation! What I am understanding is that you want to book on flights QF8109 and QF8110? These are codeshares on EK metal, but start at DXB, and you only want to book half of each flight (ie just the Larnaca to Malta segments).

No way of doing this online that I can find - QF is definitely out, and on sites such as Hipmunk can only find those EK flights as EK or codeshares with Air Malta..

But please call Qantas and let us know :)

QF may not have rights on these routes, so may not be able to stick a their flight number on the route.

Yes precisely. I'll give them a call. Not earning any QF status on an EK flight, even in biz, sucks.

I don't believe you can book these as standalone flights with a QF flight number. You generally need to book flights in conjunction with an itinerary that starts/ends in Australia or Dubai.

You can book, say, SIN-DXB-CDG on QF code, same with originating in BKK and KUL. But not originating in HKG for some reason.

Not sure if QF codeshares on the Larnaca/Malta service or not.

I rang up, the answer is no. Lame. Any other way to get SC on EK flights? I'm guessing not. Even if I flew biz, I still get 0. Such a great partnership!

No. You get points but you can't get SCs on EK flights unless they are code share with a QF booking ref.

Hey FIFO, I understand your anger, but really it is not QF fault. There is a limit to codeshares they can arrange. And the flights you cannot get QF SC are flights that are on another carrier and no QF codeshare. That is surely stretching the limits of optimism?? To want to get QF SC on a flight they have nothing to do with?

By your logic, whats the point of any partnership or alliance? Why should you get sc on an aa or s7 flight?

The point of a partnership is to enhance flyers opportunities when they fly with the "other" carrier. But this is usually finite - not for every flight. Qantas does indeed offer codeshares on many EK flights. But not all.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Outside of OW, how many flights on partner airlines will get you SC's for QFF when you are travelling on the Partner's code?

Does this also apply to QF classic reward bookings? I'm unable to see any HKG-BKK flights online, only HKG-DXB.
Shouldn't be an issue. These flights generally appear for me if there's availability but it will be the EK coded flight.

The Larnaca Malta Emirates flight is codeshare with Air Malta.

Doesn't earn QF though - if you book on Air Malta code you can credit to LH and a few other partners.

That is a traffic restriction by the Hong Kong authorities.

Why does the restriction exist and what are the chances of removing it?

CX usually has good availability as well on that route (booked it many times).

RJ is another option.
