Hi all

I (begrudgingly) had to have a corporate travel agent book work flights MEL-NRT, ITM-NRT, NRT-MEL on Japan Airlines (JAL) for April next year.

I've received a booking number in the form of "B7206388" and a PNR in the form of "NJGMOA" (note I've changed the actual alphanumeric values of each).

I'm wondering if I can manage the booking on the JAL website, or the QFF website (since my QFF number is linked to the itinerary)?

I'd like to be able to choose seats ahead of time.

Cheers,
Jase

No, unfortunately. The agent "owns" the booking. But the agent can select seats on your behalf - tell them what seats you want.

Whilst the agent will own the booking for significant changes, it shouldn’t stop you selecting seats.

Go to the JAL website. And select manage booking. You will need to select ‘by reservation’, and will need date, flight number (any of the flights),your name and the 6 character PNR as the booking reference. Note that ‘first name’ will need the concatenation of everything not the last name (so if you booking is for Mr Donald Duck, the first name is DonaldMr).

It may take a bit of fiddling with names to get it to find the record, but once you have it, you should not have a problem selecting seats if eligible to do so

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You should be able to manage the booking ( at least as far as seating is concerned) by going into the JAL web site with the JAL PNR.

Unless the TA has somehow locked it. I used to have a corporate TA book me for client flights, and never had a problem with "MMB" on any airline.

The TA can't lock down seating etc, so if anyone is doing that it is the airline. MMB via JAL should work fine, although you will be unlikely able to see it in your QF profile unless it had a QF flight in the itinerary sonewhere.
