Hi everyone. We are currently travelling through Malaysia, and stumbled across FlexiroamX - a new ultra thin SIM that attaches to your current SIM. They offer up to 100gig of FREE data over the course of 12 months - you simply pay $9.95 for the SIM.

I've trialled it for the past couple of weeks and have been impressed with their coverage. Arriving in a new country just got super easy - just switch over to your Flexiroam X and you'll instantly have data available (in most countries).

I met with the team at Flexiroam the other day and they've arranged a special sign up offer for AFF members that sign up before 19th Aug - the normal signup bonus is 100mb, with this offer you get 500mb! Full details are available on my blog here -

AFF Bonus! Give Flexiroam a go and get 500mb FREE data | No Set Address - A Family Travel Blog

I am not an affiliate, nor do I get any payment if you sign up, and this post has been approved by admin. I was meeting with them to ask for a bonus for my other online travel group and thought I'd ask for something for AFF members too!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

That's much better than my 100MB code in Referral Offers:
http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/referral-offers/flexiroam-x-77437.html

but still worth reading for some other codes.
Also worth watching their facebook page.
www.facebook.com/FlexiRoam as they are giving away data during the Olympics

The only 'catch' is you need to spend US$5 on postage for the SIM, and US$9.99 for 12-mth membership...

The SIM is sent very quickly, and pretty easy to attach.
In my tests in Australia it worked well -- till the SIM died two days later (but have a new one arriving today) -- just the sticker - the actual SIM underneath it is still OK
Its a very good option for light data usage while travelling IMHO

Planning on using it in the US and Panama next week.

My testing seems to show that Flexiroam are still charging a minimum 10MB/hr block, although this has been removed from the T&Cs and some posts on the web claim it is gone.
I will continue to test and provide feedback

I did ask them about this and I responded in another thread that they only charge what is used. If you are having issues, I've found the team to be very approachable.

Seems too good to be true?
I thought so at first too, but I've had the SIM for a couple of weeks and used it on and off and it works really well. They are still in the early stages, having launched only start of June, but they have some big partnerships on the cards where a whole lot more data will be available.

I did get a comment from someone saying the link wasn't working - this has all been fixed now!

!

I had sent them a request to look at my account.. but havent heard back yet.
I was deducted 0.03 GB (or 30Mb) during my first two tests before the SIM died..
Over the total sessions I wouldn't have used more than 5MB.

One session split an hour, the other was in between.
I also force switched from Vodadone to Optus to get 4G

Anyhow two more small tests today with the 2nd SIM and another 0.02GB deducted.

So sure looks like they are still deducting a minimum of 10MB/hr

How much data have you chewed through jakplus1, if you've been using it on and off??

I've used 230mb. So yes I agree that it appears that it's being deducted in 10mb lots however i did speak directly with my contact there and he assured me it only deducts exactly what you use.

Thanks, but code does not appear to be working - comes up with Invalid Code when I try it.

Once you've downloaded the App, open it and go into Unlock Free Data and enter the code there. It is for new users only.

HTH

I messaged my contact and this was the response...

The X App dashboard displays Data balance in GB, rounded off to 2 decimal places. Eventhough it is may display a 0.01GB deduction from your account, it doesnt mean you have actually used up all 10MB. It is just an indication that you are within the first 10MB usage. The indicator will not change until your actual usage exceeds 10MB, then it will move to the next bracket of 0.01GB.

For the record, I personally wish to commend you for the effort put in to test our product and provide your feedback. It is very much appreciated.

I had a similar cut and paste message on another board.

It's just imho incorrect.

My phone shows actual usage of 18MB so the dashboard should show a 0.02GB deduction if that theory is correct.

Instead it shows 0.06GB or 60MB and unsurprisingly I've used it for parts of six hours

I plan to use the card in the US over the next fortnight but given this billing issue it will be on and off, rather than normal usage.

My second SIM now sits on a spare Telstra SIM which is not active and inserts far more easily than the other SIM that it was on the first time

To clarify, I downloaded the app, then registered and during registration it allows a promo code to be entered, but it says the promo code is invalid.

I think jakplus1 is saying you need to use the code inside the actual app - as Unlock Free Data, not as a referral code

When I try the code in my app it says "Not a new User".

Presumably you don't want to use a referral code in order to be able to use this better code.

Will this beats the 100MB offer code I was posting also.. :)

First trip using this for me, so far tried in SIN, DXB and all through London. Generally it's working very well, and got 20+mbit/s on 4G in Singapore. The only gripe I have is that my iPhone 6S (Plus) seems to frequently drop carrier and sometimes I've got to flick it in and and of airplane mode to get it back. I have seen that happen with another multi-country sim (Ortel Cross) though so not sure if thats an iPhone thing or what.

But yeah so far it's been great.

Good to hear. What has your experience been on data deducted versus actual usage

Looks dead on to me, I've used 1.1GB so far... I got about 400MB free so far including referral bonuses and paid for 1GB (Seems I accidentally streamed some videos yesterday, woops.. but it matches up against my iphones recording of usage).

Interesting.
Maybe it's a minimum 10Mb per hour but if you are using more than that actual usage.

Couple of more free 500MB codes for new signups -
ROAMWITH-X From store at KLIA2. Valid to 30Nov
XFREE500MB From KliaEkskpress

Note these are new user codes only - can't be used for existing users and I believe not valid it you sign up using the referral links which gets you 100Mb. :-(

Store at KLIA2 was also doing a special of sticker SIM + 12-mth activation plus 1.7 GB for 140RMY.

And a couple of easy to find codes for existing users on the Facebook page for 100MB each

No idea on the third

Mine just plain didn't work (fair warning for those looking to use it without a test run at home first). Getting onto support now....
