Mrs F is at the Bne lounge & was told that in 8-12 weeks they will definitely be opening the section for Plats & J class pax.
This is great news for those who achieved/maintained plat.
Another body shot to Qantas...

Where will it be? Not a subsection of the existing lounge, I hope.

I assume better food, better drinks, dedicated service and facilities?

Where the temp lounge was.

I'll be SG later this year - I'm hoping Air NZ *GE will have access prior to a DJ/VA flight.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

Unfortunately I never had to use the lounge when it was the temporary one in action. Moreover I'm set to lose my Platinum, so it's going to be a long while before I get to step inside.

Will they be offering reciprocal access within the "VA Alliance"?

Or maybe you could *earn* the status (?)

I thought the old temp lounge was going to be one of the virgin CL equivalent lounges?
Is the temp lounge big enough for two lounges?

Well let's hope that it's better than what QF offers: I have on more than one occasion needed to seek refuge in the Qantas Club, has the J lounge been so ugly. Let's face it, the food seems hardly any better -- I've compared side by side and it all seems to be very similar if not identical: Brisbanites, you're getting jipped compared to J lounges in Sydney and Melbourne.Hopefully the DJ J lounge will lift the bar and cause the QF J lounge to lift its game. It sorely needs to.

I wonder if the new VA Plat-J lounge will serve spirits. :p

I will have to check on Wednesday to see if this is a rumour or whether it is going ahead.

I don't see the need for it.

I tend to agree with Bundy Bear.

I do not see a need for it nor do I see a need for a separate Qantas Club/Business Lounge either.

Hi JohnK, as a QF Plat, which one do you normally go to when flying ? The regular QC or the J lounge?

I visit both depending on how busy they are and desktop availability.

I really do not see a difference between the 2 lounges apart from the hot food on offer and there have been times where the offering in the Qantas lounge has been better.

Those that are travelling for Business and frequent the lounge during various days of the week would know how busy it gets, Tues and Thursday from 10 until 5 are very busy, so yes its needed.

I believe she spoke to the well known lounge "Angel" Annette.
Mrs F is in the BNE lounge at least once a week and has been since September of last year.
She is very well known to the staff there. (As an aside she will probably crack 6500 SCs for the calender year... will VA run with a P1 group???)

Oh, I love Annette, she's great - very on the ball :)

That's the criteria for a separate lounge? The lounge gets busy a couple of times a week so we need to expand/create new lounge.

Thats good enough a reason for me.
I am getting annoyed at not getting a seat in the BNE lounge on Monday mornings. A plat flying in J has to hunt for a seat ? Bah.
