Hi AFFers

I'm flying out on EK at 02:35am on Christmas Day - anyone know what time the TRS desk closes each night?

I believe the TRS desk is open up to 30 minutes before the midnight flights of CX and SQ. I was on the EK flight back in October and from memory the TRS desk was closed which I thought was strange at the time.

Note if you need to have any goods inspected the TRS office closes much earlier but not sure of the times.

It was closed at midday the other month so good luck having it open at midnight! Instead they leave a form you can fill in and they mail you back your receipt once refund is processed.

How does the filling in form process work with them having to check your goods?

They bascly don't. You fill out a form and leave that with your invoice and put them in an envelope. You address the envelope to yourself but don't seal it. Then you pop it in the box provided. They process it then your copy will be posted to you in the envelope that you have addressed to yourself.

I had had to do this not long ago when I would have expected them to be open. I had packed my items all ready to show them and didn't need to. I wish they provided the forms in advance as I could have had this ready to save time.

Numbat

Thanks for the tip! If the office is closed, where did you get the forms from - or can they be downloaded online?

I was on that flight last week and funny enough I had stuff to declare but was being lazy. There were people around BUT I was at airport before CX departed.

There are tables set up in fronts of the TRS with the forms, envelopes etc. On the right as soon as you clear security. It's easy to miss so don't walk fast.

I have a transit in BNE coming up SYD-BNE-SIN on the EK flight and will have a TRS claim for golf club, golf bag and golf travel bag.

Is it worth risking checking the bags through from SYD and either filling out an online claim or one of the forms from TRS office? I'll have a lot of luggage during the transit and trying to avoid collecting luggage from domestic to international.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
