Hi guys, I apologise if this a FAQ, but I was enquiring about how the process is when I fly on QF8 on a domestic sector and connect to a international Qantas Codeshare flight?

Just need info on where I am processed for customs, where duty free can be purchased and transferring to my connecting flight.

cheers

You will clear immigration in Brisbane. Fill in and hand over your green departures card in Brisbane. Your boarding pass to Sydney will not have an orange sticker on it.

For the departures card, the country where you will leave this ship or plane will ironically be Australia.

I assume duty free can be purchased from Brisbane or Sydney; you have international boarding passes. Do note that at Sydney in transit you will pass another security screening, so don't buy duty free with LAGs in Brisbane (or have them set for pick up on return to Australia if you will come back through Brisbane International).

At Sydney you will arrive at T1. Head to Transit, clear security and go back up to departures. You should get both boarding passes in Brisbane, but if you don't, transit service desks are available before security screening in the arrivals flow in Sydney.

Keep in mind that as QF8 is an international flight, the check in cut off is 60 minutes, not 30 minutes like other regular domestic flights.

Anyway duty free is usually cheaper in NZ. Google duty free Christchurch airport to get a prices comparison and remember the exchange rate difference

In theory this is no longer true - as long as BNE Duty Free liquids are delivered in sealed bags they should be allowed through.

From Inbound Transit Requirements :
Duty free liquid, aerosol and gel items purchased at the departure airport overseas or onboard the inbound flight before arrival in Australia, that are in the sealed plastic bag provided at the time of purchase and with accompanying proof of purchase will be screened at the transit screening point of a gateway airport. If the screening process is not able to clear your duty free items, you will not be able to take the items beyond the screening point and will have to surrender them to screening officer for disposal. If the screening process clears your duty free items, you will be able to take them onto your next flight.
