Shouted myself a quick week to PER for NYE with friends. QF591/738 over on Classic J - QF598/A332 Paid on the way back. What a contrast in product !! The 738 didn't even have individual IFE. I would have been very disappointed if I had of paid both ways. First World problems I know but there could not have been a greater difference in the offerings. I have also flown some International sectors on a far inferior product to the new Business suites on the A332. The tired 738's should be restricted to sub 3.5 hour flights.

Happy New Year to all AFFers

Happy new year and yes these are my preferred way to do trans-aust now :)

Yep, the difference is massive. There is no way I would book J on the 738 on that route (or any other trans-continental route), given the choice.

Had the same experience recently return flight PER/SYD. 332 on the way over, 738 on the way home. As we were boarding in Sydney, having switched off all our devices, we were told by staff that we should quickly download the Qantas app so that we could enjoy our own choice of IFE. This created more than a little confusion and much to-ing and fro-ing as many passengers dived for their phones, Pads, etc. Those that weren't able to achieve the download, had to settle for the old drop-down screen, with no choice of any personal programme options. In my aisle seat, the glare from the windows meant I couldn't see anything on the screen anyway. Not flash really.
