Morning All,

Couple of people I have spoken to, have asked if I could recreate a trip to NYC when I had multiple stops and a very good mileage run in it as well. They lady at Qantas who booked it was showing everyone because there was something wrong with it and it should have been $15k+. A day later, all combos had disappeared. I was just cleaning out my saved trips and noticed this trip is active again, so I thought I would share and maybe someone can get some use out of it or a variant. It can be booked via Qantas despite them thinking they can't. Just give them the dates and flight numbers and it works at the end.

You can also change the first stop to HKG for a stopover there.

It is over 25k miles and crediting to AA was just over 40k EQM from memory. It books into D class. You can do the NRT to LAX on either JAL 777 or AA 777. You can do the JFK-NRT on either JAL 777 or JAL 788. You can do NRT-BNE on QF or NRT-SYD-BNE on JAL (but I don't think you can book through QF if you do JAL).

Personally I thought the J seat on JAL was worse than a coffin, it was like the grave the coffin gets lowered into and not long enough. YMMV.

I also did a variation with SJU instead of JFK http://goo.gl/flights/tQkK for an extra $850 just as an example of what you can do.

F but out of SYD is $16000

I was just going on what she said. It was something to do with all the different stops. I don't get stops because most of the time it says you can have them but makes the price sky rocket. Still learning why, I just plug dates into Google flights/ITA and see if it comes back as cheaper than the standard QF flights. At the time I did this flight, it was end of November, there was no sales on any airline and I had a 3 week period to get it all done in. A QF BNE-LAX flight was coming in at $8500 so this was pretty cheap and a lot more miles. It was also a fun trip. I did 30 hrs of flying and 4 first class lounges on the one day (left at 12.30am and then with the international date line, it was a 48hr day).

That looks like a Circle Pacific fare, is that what it is?
 
My understanding is the Circle couldn't return to NRT. Don't profess to know a huge deal about it though.
 
In a Circle Pacific you must do one South Pacific crossing and a lot more expensive than this fare.
Moindardt I was just interested in an F fare so changed the cabin class-wouldn't quote out of BNE.I do enjoy JAL F.Might even be worth it.

Honestly, I would do the first one and add a standard mileage run that has a stopover in NYC for more SC and less dollars. A basic LAX-JFK-MIA-PTY is about A$1000 and get 500 SC, so for $7100 you get your platinum renewal.

Last September via tokyo to east Coast USA. QF flights were only into Haneda and there was a need to transfer to Narita. AA out of several USA cities to Tokyo are now on the Dreamliner making it a nice flight. AA is also looking at flying into Haneda in the future making it a good option and easy connection to QF flight. I used BYOjet and ticked the option through Haneda to force it to find this route. It was lots cheaper than QF J with all the SC's It has made it easy for me to keep platinum for another year.
 
AA flies the new 787 DFW-HND. I haven't seen any QF through HND, only NRT, each time I tried the 787 it had a airport change to NRT involved.
