Beware of inaccurate QF online seat maps. Booked a QF ticket on the PX/QF 767 code share POM-BNE and selected my usual isle seat D as per the QF seat map. Board the flight to find D is the middle seat in the centre row and my 2 companions were candidates for Japan's sumo team. QF shows the 2-3-2 config as AC-DEF-GH, unfortunately PX labels them as AB-CDE-FG. They used to be accurate!!!

Am I understanding correctly, that it is a QF codeshare on PX metal?

If so, then then the problem is a PX one, not QF.

I have encountered similiar different seating alignments as well. But, Sumo wrestlers aside, not really been a massive issue.

From the descriptions provided the safest selection would be seat C as you would be guaranteed the aisle on either seat map configuration in Y.
I have flown from BNE to POM on the PX 767 back in 2013 although that was in J - seats were big enough for sumo wrestlers, but were only recliners.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If possible I'd always check the operating carriers MMB to check for any discrepancies

It is also possible the airline has different seat designations on different aircraft of the same type.
I discovered this recently in respect of EY A340s.
I always prefer to do seat selection on the operating carrier's site.
If I have to resort to using a codeshare site I usually confirm the layout with Expert Flyer.

2 x 767 configured the same. You cant do seat selection on the PX site if you've booked a QF ticket.

Expert flyer also shows different seat numbering between QF and PX

It's a QF issue. Yes PX metal, QF ticket. QF seat numbering is wrong PX set numbering is correct. I didnt say it was a massive issue.

It depends which 767 you get so the seat map you saw via QF MMB could have been correct at the time you did your request but PX could easily have swapped the 767s around on the day of departure or day prior.

How many days out did you allocate your seating?

PX have been known to frequently substitute their B767 service for other aircraft types completely such as B737, F100 & even 2 x F28's for a B767 flight so it's certainly not rare to have one 767 config swapped for another.
