Hi guys,

I have a number of flights transiting through Abu Dhabi terminal 3 over the next 6 months (PER-DUB return x 2) and I've upgraded using points for the first time.

Each has a stopover of about 2 hours.

I am Etihad Silver, and for each flight I fly Y to Abu Dhabi, but J on the second flight.

Which lounge is best for me? Do I have time to go to Terminal 1? What is your experience during the short stopovers?

Any advice appreciated as always.

You'll have enough time to go to T1 - it's a 10min-ish walk from T3.

If you are flying J (AUH-DUB, AUH-PER), then you have access to the EY J lounge, which is nice, but can be packed especially around midnight. I would go to the lounge nearest to your gate. The transit and security process can eat up quite a bit of time as well.

Thanks for the reply- I didn't realise the terminals were so close at all.

AUH transit and security process is the worst part of the 22 hour trip!

Absolutely! It sucks, but don't be passive and stand your ground and actively seek the shortest line. It can save you quite a bit of time. There can be lots of pushing and nudging especially when a few busloads empty passengers at once - but stand firm!

Agreed. makes me want to avoid AUH. Even travelling in F there's no streamlined process and have been in situations where I had to wait like a herd of cattle coming off an A380.
Wonder if residence guests have a smoother transfer...

Agreed, the AUH security lines are horrible. People just push on past you and jump in front regularly, particularly when you are waiting to be called forward. On to more positive things, I had the pleasure of the EY First lounge recently, twice. The cold white tomato soup and scallops were fantastic, washed down with 2006 Billecarte. Have been in the J lounge a few times and while busy, it's pretty good.

Yes the new F lounge is fantastic. Had the degustation there - ran out of time unfortunately as had to board the flight. I'm told they have now ended this due to cost cutting across the board at EY.
