Hi all,
I'm flying into and out of Queenstown airport (New Zealand) next month and I'm curious to know which side I should sit on? From what I've gathered, the view should be quite impressive.
The cloud cover was higher on the day I flew in, so we broke through a little earlier. The mountains looked like snow capped velvet and we followed the crystal blue river. I was in 1A on a perfect flight with a wonderful crew, and I will never forget it. I can't listen to Coldplay's 'Paradise' without a lump in my throat.
Thanks for the replies.
That video is fantastic although I can't but help think how it would have been improved with the LOTR playing in the background. Demonstrates how amazing aero engineering is too as it looked like they were heading towards a mountain when they dropped down into the cloud.
Yep I'll be visiting Milford Sound (driving there via Te Anau). I am considering a day flight from QT up past Mt Cook and the Franz Joseph glaciers, though. But I'll wait for the weather forecast.
Have done the flight into Queenstown a few times. Left hand side is best, especially if flying in from Auckland. I've been lucky to always have landing to the north so had the figure 8 (I think) approach which is spectacular.
Def do the helicopter flight return to Milford if you can. Pricey but well worth it.
