Best Routing: BNE > WLG

Hi Folks,

I need to make some business trips to Wellington (ex Brisbane) over the next few months. These will involve minimising my lost travel time and being in the WLG office at 0900 and leaving at 1700

What is the best suggested airlines / flights to take that will allow me to minimise downtime through travel? At the moment, the DJ68 out of Brisbane arriving at 23:20 looks half attractive, but it's landing much later than I would like. Any other suggestions? Should also point out that QF is my preferred airline, so happy to hear suggestions for routing on QF / QF Code Share.

Your very limited in terms of choice - personally I don't think you have an option other than to fly over the night before and get in at midnight.

I had the same issue a few times last year, and I couldn't find any particularly good options either. Best one I found to be able to start work in WLG on a Monday morning was to take daytime connecting flights through AKL on Sunday, or the late one on Saturday, depending on mood. The best way I found to get back after finishing on Friday afternoon was to take the early morning flight on Saturday.

Just in general, AKL is a fairly nice place to connect if you have to. Seems to have remarkably fast security and immigration, from my limited experience, and the you can get between terminals with either a shortish walk or a free bus that runs frequently.

If you're on Air NZ, pay attention to the metal you're using across the tasman - the 747/777 services are *way* more pleasant than the A320s. You also might be able to snag a Y+ seat on a Y fare on the 747/777...
