In Six weeks I am flying transpacific on VA in Premium economy.

Do any have experiences and/or recommendations on best seating - I have access available seating to the entire cabin.

I like row 11 - the bulkhead limits leg room a bit (though I've sat in row 10 a bunch of times and have lived to tell the tale). Personally prefer the C or H seats, though it would depend ... if I could get the D or G seats with no-one next to me, I'd prefer that over C or H with someone next to me.

I like the bulk head seats as no one can recline into you....but others here say row 11 it better.

I like the last row of PE in the main PE area as you can recline all you want without impacting anyone behind you (although the seats may have slightly less recline than normal, not sure). If you are 6ft or more ignore the bulkhead row as the restricted legroom gets to be a pain in the leg after a while. My business partner is much smaller than me and he has no hassles in any seat. thats my thoughts anyway, others may differ :)

edit: sitting at the back you can see everything thats going on as well, slightly less boring than staring at a bulkhead. They tend to do one meal service front row first then the other back row first so you don't feel left out.

edit2: actually the more I think about it there is no difference to the recline in the back row to the other rows as the back row has room behind the seat for it. Seat Guru does not list it as being a problem. I feel guilty reclining when there is someone behind me so in the back row I can just recline at will. :)

I prefer row 11, but my last trip I had a shadow both ways, which helped. The recline in the last row is pretty ordinary.

Row 11 or 12.... much or a muchness to me. A or C depending on you bent!!

Thanks for the inputs ... I did arrange 10C and 10H with variance due to Sun position.

Interesting about the meal serving - is it front/back/left/right?

from memory, they serve both sides at the same time...front to back (1st meal) then back to front (2nd meal) or visa versa. it was several months ago now so people that have flown more recently may be able to answer that more accurately.

I also travel with a hoody which I find useful when you want to sleep, put the hood over your head and you can almost escape into your own little world. saves the people walking past watching the drool coming out of the corner of your mouth as you sleep with your mouth open :)

I'd also go row 11 for the recline and being able to stretch out a bit for sleeping. Had row 10 once and it was ok but much prefer 11.

If you are not particularly tall then Row 10 has the same effect, I would stick with Row 10 now you have it. Do they still give out the little foot stools? I thought they were a great idea!

Cheers,
Boof

Row 10 also houses the bassinets as well I think. Plus if it'sof any need, the middle bank seats are the only ones with raising armrests. ANy chance of spending 45k pts on the upgrade? Well worth a try :)

I've done row 12 & 10. I would pick row 10 every time. I guess if you're particularly tall (I'm not), then your legs could be restricted by the bulkhead. I enjoyed the space. Easy to get around anyone sitting next to you without disturbing them.

I'll echo row 11. I've flown it probably a dozen times, and 11 is my standard. The middle block of 4 don't have all arm rests liftable either which is a little annoying!

I've not once had anyone on 11A, and just had 11C to myself.

The recline in row 14 is definitely not as deep as the others are, but it's tolerable (It's not "no recline", it's just less).
When I booked mine I had no status and literally was only given a single seat to choose from (14D). Ended up there was only 1 spare seat in the cabin (14E) so I was cheering, as I could use it as a staging area for any junk I didn't want in the seat pocket in front.

Amusingly there was someone seated there initially, who was quite literally squatting -- she sat down, cabin crew handed out papers and I think pre-departure drinks, and then must have realised doing their manifest checks -- asked her for her boarding pass (which she had conveniently lost) and then ejected her (presumably to her seat in regular Y). I thought it was hilarious, and had never seen anything like it before!

Just come back this morning from TLOTFAP in VA PE. Originally booked 14D, but then moved to 14A when the doors closed as the cabin was almost empty. Reline is only marginally less than standard, if not the same. I tried to do a bit of a check with A fully reclined and C fully upright between rows 13 & 14, with the results being inconclusive.

Which would I choose next time? Not sure, still trying to work it out.

Thanks all for the advice - I may try row 10 one way and row 11 the other for research purposes...

Watching this thread, as I'm doing the same in a couple of weeks and again in 10 weeks time.

Hey Serfty,

This is exactly what I did. As mentioned earlier, I think if you have a bit of length in your legs, then row 10 will be annoying, but with an ampty seat next to you, the diagonal sprawl will work fine.
I took 10 over, and 11 back. Empty seat between us each way.

I enjoyed 10 as there were no recliners, and I was travelling with a work mate so climbing over a body was not an issue. There was someone in 11 so there was a small amount of guilt when I went to recline.

I was actually booked in 10 on the way back as well, but with an empty row 11, and seeing similar discussion here before I decided to have a crack at row 11. I remained there for the rest of the flight. I had no one in front of me reclining and extra leg room, so my choice is row 11, if no one is in row 10 :)

If I had to book again, I am just on 6 ft, I would take row 10 again, mostly because it is close to the toilets, and no recliners! (an not in that order)
