My parents are travelling to Shanghai at Easter and are looking to travel in PE on oneworld. What is the best option? Looks like QF only offer A330 (no PE?) on the direct service.

Will Malaysian be OW by Easter? Other options Cathay or JAL. Anyone flown Cathay PE?

Flew CX to Hong Kong in PE. Very good all round. It was for work so, they put me in PE instead of YI don't expect Malaysia to be OW by then. I thought it was supposed to happen by Christmas last year.

Malaysia joins One World week after next, Feb 1.

QF PE is the best of the bunch. CX is just a bigger seat really; nothing to write home about. Note that if you want PE, going with either CX or QF will only get you PE to HKG. You will need to connect onto Y. As for direct, there is no PE service.

Agreed about QF being the best of the lot (especially considering there are A380's on these routes now), but you may not want the Y leg from HKG. I haven't flown on CX PE, but one of my staff did late last year and he was happy enough, but did comment he missed QF PE.

QF PE is on "special" at present for circa 2K to HKG, it may be the best compromise versus Y direct.

Depends when you go but Qantas have discount Y tickets going ridiculously cheap at present and it's a daytime flight which I always find easier in Y. Suck it up and pamper yourself when you get there for the huge saving.

Direct in Y 9-10hrs vs 14-15hrs+ for part way PE is not an option I would consider unless they want some time in HK.
