Hi All,

So we want to head to UK before out daughter reaches 2. After that we have to pay for her.

If we were fly Singapore i would have no issue with the J seats and you can comfortably seat 1
adult and 1 child. But alas we only have QFF points.

We are thinking of going via HK or NRT as its easy to get seats in J/F 300+ days out

Looking at the pics of CX and BA J the seats seem very narrow and there is
no real way to fit a child in. BA J looks horrible all squishy in a cube and their F is no
better.

I think the only real option we have is CX F which is roughly 1.5 seats wide.

Its amazing there is no other airlines that offer such a generous J seat as Singapore

Any thoughts/suggestions ?

We have around 500k QFF points and happy to pay for flights to get to Asia somewhere.

Depending on your dates (seasonal summer service approx Oct->) JAL has 77Ws exSYD with wide F seats, and business class 'cubes'. Not sure of the business class width though. F availability ex AU was fairly generous during the last round.

Ok after a bit of searching it seems Zurich is in Zone 6.

So CX from HKG - ZUR its 228k return in F

From ZUR we will fly into GB and then train it back.

Just on this point - there are several flaws in the SQ seat design (the square version). The seat is hard, doesn't have a generous recline, you have to sleep on a diagonal and your feet are shoe-horned in to a tiny footwell (unless you score the bulkhead).

Other seats will suit some people much better.

We flew SG from mel-sin-nrt when the a380 first came out and it was great.
I do agree it felt a bit clumsy but for a day time flights it was great

I was really just a bit stunned to see how bad BA J class is. it just looks very squishy
and a bit claustrophobic with the high walls and tight little nooks.

If i was paying $$ i would not be choosing BA

Yes but... it was an absolute market leader, for quite some time, when first introduced (particularly if you managed to get the right seat in the cabin). In fact other European airlines have only recently caught up with full flat bed offerings... not so long ago LH/KL/AF were still angled.

BA has lots and lots of incentives. They have a fairly good redemption program, an AMEX 2-4-1 deal, and good availability for upgrades. And lifetime platinum.

By AMEX 2-4-1 do you mean UK based or Au based?
