Hi All
I recently learnt about the points system when i went to travel to bali and discovered i had nearly 500,000 points on my card worth about 5K to fly with.

I usually leave all the credit cards etc unto the wife.
I can use my credit card for business purposes and would spend upwards of 300K a year . ( can get no fees from some suppliers in return for automatic debit from cc)

What is the best card to use to get points. I want to use the points on any airline so something like web jet would be great. I saw some cards that are 1 point for $1 and some 2 points for $1 with a cough load of conditions i didn't even bother reading.

So my question is, which card offers the greatest points to $ ratio and what would you guys recommend for my circumstances...

thanks

Westpac earth black seems to work well for me. It is not used for business though it may be different for you. It has some decent perks though.

I am a Amex Edge for supermarket shop 3:1 petrol 2:1 points. Then NAB plat Amex 1.5points for all other, and where Amex not accepted Virgin High flyer Visa 1.25 points. This is for a Virgin and partner combo. Using this combo could net you over 400k points. I put through $50k + biz expenses and had no issues. No tax payments though. Not worth it on Amex and visa don't pay points. Again, this is for Virgin and partner points.

You are starting to get sufficient points where you can afford to farm at least two FF plans and not have to get squeezed by the QF mandatory points transfer with most of their points earn cards.
Pooling points should be your main aim enabling you to direct points to the airline able to meet your current travel needs.
I have the Citi Select, however would suggest you initially take up the offer expiring 28 February (been extended twice since December) fee free for life Signature Visa enabling you to pool points between SQ and VA, only dropping .33 points/$ spend and no $700 fee compared to the Select. Worth your partner also getting this card with the QF points feed at 1ff point /$ spend.
Agree with the Amex Edge for all supermarket (3xFF/$) and petrol (2x) spend, not forgetting the Woolies EDR card to earn you QF points over $30 spent to keep QF accounts active and no ugly foreclosures and points cancellation.
Also have the NAB Amex (1.5FF/$) free with my banking, however don't use it as much as the Westpac Altitude Black (1.5FF/$) as are forced to send points to either VA or QF. They did allow me to swap last year, however new cards and changed account details a bit of a pain. Still keep the NAB card for possible future points feed to QF as required, however the Black is good for other Amex spend and points pooling.
Total fess will be around $600pa for these options.
