What an excellent idea to tempt people who have nothing on this weekend or next - discounted flights and accomodation packages, or day-trips.

Why don't they do this in Australia? I would be seriously tempted if I had nothing on that weekend!
AN used to do 'mystery flights' (and VA still do: Mystery Breaks | Specials & Gift packages | Holidays | Virgin Australia, albeit with accommodation and you select how many nights you'd like away.

I don't think it would work nearly as well here, or you could well end up in DBO for a w/end :p

Mainline flights, baring Saturday, are typically very very busy Friday afternoon/evening and Sunday Afternoon/evening/Monday Morning.

NZ also used to do mystery weekends domestically, but I can't seem to find them on offer right now.

thanks for sharing this.
It is indeed cool, maybe something I can implement - fly away on a long wkend on your points.

hmmm - what am I doing this weekend....

Isn't your company selling other people's points redemptions as discounted award seats? You haven't got the message yet that we don't approve!

Not to mention you need several days before to book on some programs (and availability is more often than not, not available at short notice, not to mention the fact that most 'getaways' are only around $100 more if paid for with cash rather than burning a stack of points).

The benefits of living in Europe eh, so much, so close... If only....

And didn't realise the angst that was around...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

O/T - 'Last Minute Deals' reminds me - whatever happened to VA Happy Hour? :(

I thought it was going to be coming back, at least I swear I read someone post on here that it was, but it never did after sabre.

I have a feeling you may have played a big part in that :D

I only bought 2! My partner bought an additional one and was the only pax in J. The bored CSM gave him 2 dinners rather than a choice between 2.

(Is it any wonder VA isn't making any money?!)
