Have an upcoming stay here, and wondering if there's any reviews/ tips for the stay? (used to go to mollymook all the time as a kid for summer holidays but am guessing it's changed a bit since then!)

cheers

Nice one! Bannisters is great - you'll love it - but I find it a little isolated from the 'main' town, as much as Mollymook has one! (By main town, I mean the golf club and flagged beach area). However, it's terrific for lazing about with good books and good wine. Also very close (five minutes drive) to Milton, which has a few lovely cafes, restaurants and an excellent IGA and bottle shop.

That said, the last time I ate at Bannisters (Rick Stein owns the restaurant there, or at least designed the menu) was one of the best meals I've ever had.

I had dinner there last August and it was good without being great

Also had lunch at Cupit Winery and it was excellent and would strongly recommend it Cupitt's Winery | Award-Winning South Coast Food & Wine

Yes, Cupit does a good lunch and tastings.

If you're into bushwalking, Pigeon House is about 45 minutes drive away, and well worth it. A medium-hard climb (and you need a head for heights) but the views are incredible.

The motel (cos that's what it is - an older building that has been done up a bit) was OK when we stayed there - pleasant enough but certainly not 5*. We ate at Rick Stein's and the food was OK, not memorable. I had the classic fish and chips and IMO the fish needed 30 seconds more to be fully cooked, was a little translucent. The main issue we had was the poor service. We had a booking for 7.30 and when we arrived there was no table available and we had to wait (well people seem to eat early down there), no offer of a drink from the bar or anything and they sort of left us hanging in the foyer part. We actually had to push to get seated. The wait staff was not what I would deem well trained - leaning across me to place husband's meal, drinks ordered never appeared even when followed up etc. and I really do object to being referred to as "guys", given the price and the supposed 'fine dining' they were advertising. They may well have improved as it was a few years back now. Had friends who were there when Rick Stein was there and wait staff spent the time fawning over him leaving the customers waiting.
I don't mean to put you off at all. It was OK but not a place I would go back to.

got given a gift voucher so not complaining - got a few nights at each to mix things up. just hoping the weather cooperates so we can spend the time @ the beaches!

keep the reviews coming folks! also interested if anyone found a fishing trip - out of either ulladulla, or on/around burrill lakes?

Mrs Paddy & I moved to Ulladulla one year ago and can agree very strongly that Mollymook DOES NOT have a town centre... Ulladulla does, although it is mainly deserted after 5pm.

Haven't been to Bannisters yet, however I can give a thumbs up to Cuppits winery.

Now, if only I could find Japanese and Thai...
