I have a couple of inter-europe flights with BA.
There website is offering upgrades to Business class from the manage booking site on ba.com

Does anyone know if you get business class status credits with QFF #??

Yes you should. The last time BA was running this promotion I booked a J return to LHR and came back F. The return was booked and ticketed in F class and received first QF SC.

How much is the upgrade on each leg? I have some Europe flights (LHR-TXL) to book for next March.

From recollection I was offered the same upgrade for £50 to £150 I believe.

Thanks mate, want to do one leg in business and this sounds like a much cheaper option for a few extra SC.

Is it a random offer that comes up occassionally, to do with status or anything like that?

If booked direct with BA, then it could appear anytime up to when you check-in. Normally appears within the last week.

If booked with a Travel Agent, then it wouldn't normally appear until check-in occurs.

Not really random. It's often offered, and is based on flight loads and expected sells of tickets. Did appear on the majority of my intra-EU flights booked directly with BA when I was based in London.

Also does appear at times on long distance International flights booked with BA directly. I upgraded from Econ to World Traveller Plus LHR-SYD vv using this deal.

Thanks for the info, I'll get the flights booked and keep an eye out.
I'm annoyed at the one way flights costing a lot more than return so might book the economy flights and keep an eye out.

Came to me and I have no status.

Also, J on BA intra-Europe isn’t always that special, it’s quite ordinary most of the time…

Thanks Sam and others. I know its nothing special but extra Status credits are extra status credits

I would rather be in J flying 4 hours 50 to Cyprus than in whY...

I was just passing on what I was told when I flew to AGP, that the J seats were just converted Y ones and it wouldn’t be much different. Maybe it is on the route above, I dunno, I just heard their regional J was a bit pathetic.

I find Club Europe acceptable - not much worse than the 734 in the QF fleet. The service is not as good (plastic mini bottles of wine) but it is better than whY and for a longer trip is necessary...

Perhaps I should have asked you when I was given the chance to upgrade ;)

From my limited experience flying BA intra-Europe business class seats are no different to economy class seats and personally I would not pay extra to fly business class unless I really really needed the SCs that badly.

I had a return flight LHR-ATH on a 767 in economy last year with my father and we sat on the JK side with him in window seat and me in the aisle seat. I think this is a 4+ flight as well and it was quite comfortable. We had full English breakfast served on the ATH-LHR leg.

I nearly always scored the econ seats LHS just behind the curtain using certain techniques (Seat selection when booking, monitoring where the curtain would move to, expertflyer alerts on seats becoming fee etc). These are in a 2x config, just as wide as the "J" convertible seats and with the same legroom. J in Europe with BA is a waste of money, but good for additional SC's. Their catering is pathetic and going downhill quickly, the planes old and tatty etc... Just look at the whining on the BA board @ Flyertalk to learn how pathetic BA J is shorthaul in Europe.
