Was going to post this too...

Extraordinary prices - especially as the dates listed turned out to be departure dates and there appears to be no blackout period over the Christmas time.

I have secured MEL-SYD-BKK-HEL-FCO

and then AMS-HEL-BKK-SYD-MEL for four people for $3794 each. The initial leg does require an overnight at additional expense in Bangkok but the flights there are on QF of course so this is overall possibly the best J deal to Europe i've ever seen if travelling with three or four people.....560 status credits too by my count!

Did you manage to get MEL-SYD-MEL legs in J at that price? In my quick search I couldn't get it to price from anywhere except SYD at those rates.

How do you get the Finnair booking site to work? Have been trying for 3 days to get SYD/LHR Business return around Sept - but every date comes back with "we were not able to find availability etcccccc - 66002".
Any help appreciated.

Re : Finnair Site
I worked it out - as mentioned by a member previously, you have to get into a multi-city booking, and show SYD/BKK, then BKK/LHR (or CDG is a little cheaper). So for two couples (4) I can get $3,734 per person SYD/CDG Business return. In our case though we have different return dates for each couple so rather than the 4 person discount its the 2 person discount, coming up at $4,800.

Sooo, now to get four people to compromise for a $1,000 saving each???

Do the fare rules allow you to split the booking? If so you could just make the booking for 4, then change the dates for 2 people, have to cough up the change fee though. Just read all the fine print first!

Not according to the T&C's.

BTW, does anyone know if J seats on Finnair A340's are lie flat or angle flat?

I believe they were going to be upgrading all but a couple of A340 Business seats to lie flat by the start of this year.

I remember seeing something on AusBT a little while ago about it... The ones with the old config were going to be the first to go as the 350s come on line.

No, I had that idea also. I spoke directly with Finnair asking if they could do a little better for the four persons - but all have to be travelling on same dates. I asked about booking for four and then 2 fares doing a date change - but would incur a change fee of $100 per fare plus difference in fare. Agent said the airline would see that original booking was for 4 persons/same dates.

Anyhoo, we've gone ahead and taken the 2 person fare at $4,800 SYD/LHR. Couldn't find any better Business fares Sept/Oct (excepting Viet/China/Malay/ etc..) As to wether it is "real" Business remains to be seen - SYD/BKK is with Qantas (and returning BKK/SYD), but then incurs overnight stay on BKK, then Finnair BKK/LHR with change to smaller plane at Helsinki.

Thanks for comment.

That is still a keen fare and should be real J as it is Qantas after all to BKK and BKK-HEL is AY international product from my understanding. I have never flown AY so just what I have read. Flight HEL-LHR will most likely be a Euro J, but hey that is only a short leg.

Report back and let us know how it went.

My HEL-LHR was indeed euro-j. Avoid row 1. Intl A330 J was good (JFK-HEL IME), full flat, but not great if you're over 6 foot.

HEL lounge is great. Not trying to plug but see TR below for more info if you're interested.

A350 seems to be running on some BKK-HEL legs & HEL-LHR legs

The new Finnair Airbus A350 | Finnair

All the A340 flights (and A330) from BKK of recent have been their new J product. SIN is where I'm getting the old product so am avoiding SIN (plus cost more coin out of SIN).
