Award Flights - Points not in account yet

Hey guys,

I have a silly question for you all.

My points are currently with AMEX and I have found an award seat that I want. Is there any way to hold the seat or anything?

This is my first award booking ever so I am scared that by the time the points come across to the THAI Airlines account that the seats I want will be gone and I will be stuck with points there that I cant use

Also is there a way to know how many seats there are left?

Sorry a quick google as this is not a rewards program i am familiar with but looks like the points need to be in account- 3 yr expiry date from transfer sucks big time

And could take 2 weeks for the points to transfer
