Ok,

I am fairly incompetent when it comes to award schemes. I am looking at using Star alliance carriers vice the One World system and I have been looking at the Kris Flyer. I want to do regular flights between Melbourne and Vancouver. I cannot seem to find any available flights on the Kris flyer booking engine. It does tell me that 100000 points are required for a saver fare, however if I select any star alliance carrier it suggests only 80000 for the same ticket. I would like to take advantage of the Air Canada flights from Sydney to Vancouver rather than go via LAX or asia.

Does anyone know if this is possible for 80 000 points? and how much are the taxes roughly?

Also does anyone know if there is a visa card that allows points to be transfered into Kris rather than just AMEX?

Thanks a bunch!

The ANZ Rewards VISA is one. The transfer rate is 1 KF for 2 points, and 1 point costs $1.50. So it's not great, but the transfer takes place very quickly when you request it, within 48 hours.

Another is the Citibank Gold VISA card, which is better at 1:1 all the way. Don't know how long they take to transfer into your FF acount though.

Westpac Altitude also has transfers to Kris. 2 altitude = 1 KF

I think Westpac's Altitude is co-branded with Amex.

There is a page on the KF website which lists all the credit card partners worldwide.

I think it is 1.5:1;)

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Program
Gold and Platinum Citi Rewards Cardholders can now transfer points into the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program at a rate of 1.5 Reward points to 1 KrisFlyer mile. Minimum Transfer is 15,000 Citi Reward points which is equal to 10,000 KrisFlyer miles.

To redeem call us on 13 24 84 or 1800 818 008 if you are a Platinum Cardholder.

I stand corrected
I think Citibank gives 1 point for $1 spend, so it's still better than ANZ.

Altitude does come with Mastercard and Amex these days. My altitude card is a visa, but I forgot they had switched to Mastercard some time ago.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
