I figured there'd be a few here who went to the show over this weekend so I figured we should have one thread to keep them together (apologies if there's already one I haven't found).

I've got quite a few videos I'll be uploading throughout the day so keep an eye out.

Overall, it was a fantastic day! I flew down from Sydney (on Jetstar) for the day.

I went yesterday. Have only missed 2013 since 2001, and i thought overall it was the best yet. Pity no F22 display but great nonetheless.

Agreed, and I was also disappointed to miss the B52 flying too (they flew on Friday).

It was certainly the best show I've been to and the Air Force demonstration was fantastic. I've just finished editing and have put together a 10min video of it and am currently uploading it to You Tube (will take a few hrs).

Head up to Honolulu and you can watch F22's every day.. seems to be at least 20 of them at the base at HNL. I was up there a few weeks ago and they were flying all the time.

I have seen plenty of Hickam F22 departures and elsewhere, but never seen a display - just want to see what it can really do!

Came down for a long weekend cause my daughter was going, so spontaneous decision to travel rewarded by a terrific spectacle. Went on Sat, no queues to enter/leave the airport and was easily the best display I've seen in Oz. Those who attended will remember the commentator for Singapore Black Knights-sounded like Borat! Mark this date down for 2017.

The ADF showcase was my highlight of the show. They put together a scenario of a ground assault which included a KC-30A, F/A-18Fs, E-7A, C130s, C-17, AP-3C Orion, Bushmasters and a few others.

I take your point, although we did one blast off type take off.. One second it looked like normal take off, then it just went straight up.. lost it in seconds.

(I'm only allowed to post one video per post so here's another one freshly uploaded into YT.
...and the Catalina that usually lives in Wollongong (same museum where VH-OJA is heading this weekend.

Not exclusive to the F22 :!:

Any fighter with a high thrust to weight ratio can be seen to make this happen.

If thrust to weight is greater than one then they accelerate upwards if less than one they gradually lose speed.

Footage from landing in a JQ A320 at Avalon on the Saturday morning of the show.

Spotted these beauties (as I was coming out of the Airshow on Monday morning). These were heading back to the big hangers for dismantling prior to their return to NZ.

As I reported earlier we experienced no entry/departure road traffic holdups from/to Melbourne for the show. Given the constant chopper traffic between Melbourne & Avalon airshow, could someone advise what the return chopper fare was, as I thought this could be an admirable way of accessing the next airshow.

While this doesn't answer your question, for those interested, flying in and out via Jetstar worked very well for me. My flight from Sydney arrived at 0830 and I flew back to Sydney at 6:30am-ish that night. Jetstar provided free shuttle buses between the show and the airport.
