tried to book MEL-BRU today and they insist that can only be booked as Mel-Sin-Fra-Bru and not via other routes for single miles redemption. e.g. Mel-Sin-Lhr-Bru.

Funny thing is when I did a search for Sin-Bru they show availability as Sin-Lhr-Bru as well as Sin-Manchester-Bru. So I don't think it has anything to do with backtracking.

Insisting my Mel-Sin-Lhr-Bru has to be added as two redemptions of Mel-Sin-Lhr which is 105K and another 27.5K for Lhr-Bru.

Anyone experienced this before?

KrisFlyer doesn't allow backtracking, but otherwise they are normally reasonable when it comes to possible routings. There should be other options available than just via FRA. It is possible that they consider LHR-BRU to be backtracking, but something like MEL-SIN-CPH-BRU should be fine. MEL-BKK-CPH flying TG would be another possibility.

One things for sure if there’s an economy seat available on LHR-BRU I wouldn’t waste an extra 15K KrisFlyer miles on a 1:10 flight in Eurobusiness.

Thanks. But I don’t think this is to do with backtracking. I’ve checked (see above) sin-lhr-bru is allowed and can book online.

I’ve checked few other routes similar. For eg mel-sin-fra-Budapest is an ok route too.

Agree on that. But I’m thinking why spend even the 10k if this is something they should allow to have as a single ticket??

I assume you’ve already tried the HUACA (hang up and call again) method?
