As an offshoot from a previous post, a great suggestion: A list of AFF member ideas for the new CEO of QFi on what us, the ever loyal and increasingly frustrated (at times) Qantas Frequent Flyers would like to see at QFi to encourage our continued support and hopefully help win back the Australian public to Qantas as an international airline of Choice.

To get the ball rolling:

- Pursue (strongly) the option for an agreement with EK to offer a greater range of one-stop international flights through DXB - it might not be the best airport in the world but it makes so much more sense than trekking to LHR just to connect via BA and trek back into Italy, Switzerland etc etc.
- Better timings ex Perth to Singapore re: QF 72,
- More than two direct International flights ex: Perth - Sydneysiders aren't the only ones who don't like layovers (eg: Tokyo reinstated, Auckland flights, Indonesia/Bali - some of us like J even when on holiday etc. )
- Qantas flights on QF metal between Perth and South Africa to take advantage of the immigration traffic and in turn the return visits that South African's living in Australia make to their old country (will need to become a reality now the SAA duopoly has been squashed),
- Upgrade International 763 offering or replace with A332 (Hawaii springs to mind - when a JQ star class ticket is more appealing than QF J something is seriously wrong).

Any other takers :)

I would appreciate more international flights from Singapore - I live in WA, but am happy to transit via Perth and Singapore to go ANYWHERE. I don't think we really need QF metal to Bali - maybe to Jakarta - but not Bali from Perth. I would enjoy flights from Singapore to Cape Town or Sao Paulo, and certainly more European connections on QF metal. A direct flight Perth to Tokyo would also be utilised occasionally, but transiting via Singapore or Hong Kong isn't a huge concern for me. The fleet will need to be refreshed, though, before I seriously consider flying QF from Perth to anywhere other than Singapore.

i think you charge to much for your product.

i did a test for a J return MEL LHR in November. Emirates was was about $300 less for better equipment, as in newer, and a limo at each end. A limo can save hundreds in airport parking and the flight begins at home which makes the Emirates flight even more appealing. Also no stressful drive to the airport praying for no traffic jams. Customer loyalty and Aussie pride only last so long before we will depart happily on other carriers offering better fares and service at a Lower cost.

A lot of your fleet is getting older and the perception of your aircraft maintenance becoming sloppy means customers are not so willing to pay the premium they once did to fly QANTAS. If your flying on older plane with an inferior product then charge accordingly. No customers likes feeling ripped off by boarding an old plane and being charged heaps to do it.

My almost last feeling is some of your staff seem to think they are more important than they are. Some will disagree with me on that. I Don't fly on a QANTAS plane because of the pilots, despite what they might think. They seem to forget that QANTAS paid for all the sim time and extra training that they argue makes them better pilots, gave them the great conditions that many people only dream of and actually think i care about them flying the plane. i don't feel any less safe on a DJ flight or Tg flight when I'm flying around home and same with most OS carriers .

I fly heaps to DPS on Garuda because there is no decent Y class available with OUR airline. Someone seems to think no one wants a Y class holiday e.g. Bali, Cairns , Gold Coast. Yet there are nearly always full in J...News Flash... People do want a Y class holiday cause then your holiday begins at the airport unless you are Emirates, then it begins at home. i don't stay in a 3* hotel and i don't want to fly on a budget airline to get there.

Stop being so Sydney and Australia centric!

Leverage your SIN & HKG hubs: Launch QFF branded CC cards and/or join up to local rewards cards for QFF points. Keep JQ, but rebrand 3K as QF Asia (and at the same time install a J product comparable to the 738's domestics). Time flights at SYD to connect North and SE Asia to/from South America as it is the only geographic pairings that SYD can logically act as a hub for. Look at alternative timings (no day services from or overnights to Asia? Everyone else makes them work.)

Great idea. Does SQ do direct flights to say, Santiago from SIN or CX from HKG?

What would I like to see?

more than anything else:

** Wider Y seats with better pitch***

- junking the 767's.
- junking 737's on international flights
- leasing A330's and replace 767's and 737s on international flights with them.
- refit 747s
- introduce service audit to bring service to a consistent standard.
- get behind first.
- additional lounges: read terminal 5 to give the big finger to BA.
- refurbished lounges
- get onto Airbus for more A380 compo ;) (hey couldnt hurt!)
- wifi on aircraft
- every seat on every aircraft with a power socket
- expanded merchandise
- drop the fee to become a member of QFF
- lifetime membership to the QC for sale again
- special promotions for bronze members to get silver status.
- increased points/SC bonus for gold/platinum
- 1 special promo for gold/platinum every quarter thats crazy good value, like $50 flights, or triple SC earn.
- 5 day notice on upgrades for international flights
- increase cabin baggage to 10KG
- audit of dropped routes and restorations of any routes that were dropped that could be deemed to be profitable
- pushing for dumping jordanian airlines from OW and adding EK.
- push for MH to join OW sooner.

Agree that everything is so Sydney centric....proportion of QF flights out of Perth in the last 15 years have plummeted as others put on flights and QF pulls out...very hard to fly QF if they continually take out services. They dont seem to understand that a strong domestic brand is supported by its international arm.

If routes ex PER are a guide for the rest of the country then there is a lot of work to be done. On PER-SIN route they are pitching 2 flights/day against soon to be 4/day with SIA, it's possible to do a day trip to SIN with the competition. PER-HKG is only 2 flights/week! Connections intra-asia are minimal. I believe there is a high demand for intra asia business flights ex PER - Indo, Sin, Thai, Viet, Phil, China, Japan. Try get to those destinations on QAN with a realistic business itinerary, I don't bother to check anymore.

I think the OP was interested in realistic changes. (I know I am.)

I don't know why you're all fixated on lounges and new aircraft. That won't fix the fundamental problem that Qantas faces.
The biggest problem is passengers are flying other airlines and not coming back to Qantas. Status passengers tend to stick around a little longer before jumping, but as with any customer attrition - once it happens - that customer is gone forever and it costs a bucket load to have the CHANCE to regain their trust.

I realise some of this is QFF; but let's face it QFF NEEDS QFi and QFi NEEDS QFF for either of them to work.
So here's part of my wish list for QFi:-

- Realistic business class pricing across the Tasman (QF are THE most expensive AND offer the least value in the air)
- Less announcements on board. (I can hear and see the seatbelt sign; I don't care about unicef, duty free or whats on todays menu).
- Less announcements in the lounges.
- Recruitment of new flight attendants + get rid of existing ones. (Current ones are 90% tired and grumpy - doing so would also lower complaints/additional staffing and so on..)
- Internet on all aircraft.
- Increase QF# requirements on Platinum - AND - increase service standard and benefits for Platinum (this has a double positive for both the business AND passengers).
- Re-introduce upgrade credits for Platinum. (or do the next suggestion in place of this)
- Platinum bonus when transferring CC points into the program (25%+).
- Take Jetstar out of the QF flight search engine. (Can't run a premium airline if you are selling budget airline seats!)
- Stop the CSM from trying to shake your hand during the welcome greeting (seriously WTF)
- Stop pax from being able to move into your shadow if the shadow is a middle seat.
- Standardize the expectation for Plat Y inbound passengers (express card? yes or no? not 'sometimes').

QF has taken away too much for too long. It's time to be creative and think about what really is important to create the best possible flying experience!

Agree 100% with trippin_the_rift. I do not care for the UNICEF or Duty Free announcements either. Duty Free I can live with, though I have never made an in-flight purchase before (nor do I know of anyone who has?). I think it wise to also employ flight attendants only on five year contracts, and to not renew them after that. At-will employees have a better work ethic and do not become as burnt out as the current workforce. I think that five day notice on upgrades for international flights is also a very reasonable request. MH joining One World (and QF offering flights to Kuala Lumpur) would also be a good step until QF launches new routes throughout Asia - preferably from Perth or Singapore.

Great idea. Does SQ do direct flights to say, Santiago from SIN or CX from HKG?
SQ as mentioned do SIN-BCN-GRU, CX codeshare on LAN's AKL-SCL service but don't think the return works to well. But EK does connections from all over the place to GRU and EZE. Distances are all similar whether via DXB, SYD or Europe. IIRC the flights via South Africa are the shortest.

Can I summarise this thread:
I want MORE MORE MORE - new planes, better service, more routes
and all for LESS LESS LESS - cheaper flights, no points

Need I remind that QFi has made a whopping great loss the last few halves.
Mr Hickey has got a challenge on his hands. I assume a few AFF members have his contact details given he previously hosted a lunch for a number of you.
