So I'm QF Silver. I received an email offering me entry into the Qantas Club for my flight on Friday night from Sydney for $39. It got me thinking is $39 worth it for paid entry into the Qantas Club, specifically how long would you need to spend to get your money's worth. Would anyone consider it for only an hour or so?

Some say no, some (like me) say yes.
Some lounges are very good, and modern like BNE and ADL and PER for QF and SYD for VA (they took over the AN lounge and remodernised it, as did they with MEL).
For QFd SYD, I am probably a half wayer on that lounge, but to each their own.
If you don't plan to do it again, for the QFd SYD lounge, go for it, if you can afford it.
I am a QP member, so have use of the QPs around.
There are 2 QFd lounges in SYD, the J lounge is better, but unless you get business seats, that one is out.
So, its the QFd (SYD) QP.
I say go for it.

An hour for $39? Not really worth it IMO. I'm surprised you received an email; it was my understanding that these offers were made for non-peak periods, which a Friday night in SYD definitely isn't.

You can have a shower, 4 drinks, some snacks, read a newspaper and take some fruit with you in 60 minutes. That's worth $39 in my book.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You'd have to like ham sandwiches and can drink a lot and quickly to get your money's worth. I think it's better value to spend $20 in a cafe eating food you actually want to eat and maybe $10 for a magazine that you actually want to read. That should take up the hour and you still have $10 left over.

Would you really want to pay $39 to chug four drinks (the dollar equivalent) in an hour in a packed Friday evening QP? Stay out in the public terminal, get a glass or two of (better) wine and walk onto the flight. The QP food would be worth a dollar, or two at most.

I would not pay $39 for an hour in a domestic QP. Just arrive at the airport a bit later instead.

For a long stop over or international trip I may consider it however...

A few factors in play?-Driving at the destination, flight time, arriving at the QP from work or a stopover, plans at destination etc. Past experience tells me I wouldn't be ponying up the $39

What time on Friday you arriving at the airport? I'm going through arriving 6.25pm from Melbourne and heading out again about an hour later heading north, if you want to visit the lounge.

Nice offer BAM - hope it comes to pass..

I know someone, ahem, that listed 3 digital passes on Ozbargain for $40 each. Sold within an hour. I got the impression that they were gifts for family that were going to be traveling overseas. On that basis I think that was a nice thing for someone to do for family even if they don't get value.

Hopefully the seller gets audited by QF and has their FF account removed.

I assume the seller will be declaring the profit on their tax return as a capital gain then?

I would not be paying to visit a domestic lounge. Perhaps an international lounge where you'd spent 2-3 hours it's a little more worthwhile.

LOL. It's great that some people are able to make money from things they don't need.

$39 for one hour in a domestic lounge, and not even the domestic business lounge but just the Qantas Club to boot? I'd pass. Assuming you don't intend to drink your weight in alcohol, $39 is plenty for you to enjoy a decent meal outside before your flight.
