Applying For But Not Activating Card

Does anyone have any experience with applying and being approved for but not actually taking out/activating a card? Specifically how it affects your eligibility for sign up bonuses?

Background: Mrs NoName has gone rogue and applied for the DJs AMEX in store without consultation. Obviously I would like the referral bonus. If she was to ring and tell them she doesn’t want it would she be eligible to apply at a later date using my referral link?

Was given a cardboard temporary card and charged an item to it so nothing she can do apparently.

No too late now .....if you cancel it soon she should be able to reapply in about a year.

Yep seems that way. Will just get the bonus now and try to transfer out and cancel before the annual fee is charged at the end of the first statement period.

Just wondering , if the bonus points are awarded without activating the card/doing any transaction.
