I have booked a oneworld award next year travelling to Japan, Spain and UK. Qantas points booking but flights on JAL Iberia and BA. I have used the Qantas website to enter APIS passport and DOB information. The wording on the website implies that this information is merely to save time at the airport but I understood it was mandatory.
My question is: Do I need to find my booking on the other airlines websites and enter this information again or does Qantas share this with them?
I am sure someone on these forums will know the answer to this as the breadth and depth of knowledge here is truly marvellous!
Cheers.

The information is not mandatory except perhaps for flights to the USA. It isn't necessary for flights to the UK or Spain. It facilitates online check in.
If you don't enter it into the booking in advance then the check in agent will enter it at the airport.

Noting esseeeayeenn' s response that this information is not mandatory, I always enter on overseas flights ... just makes the "airport experience" that much smoother. With respect to sectors/flights beyond Qantas, I always enter the information in the operating carrier's booking:

1. I don't trust QF to share
2. Quite often I wish to use specific passports for specific ports so need to manage that anyway
3. I will always pick my seat via the operating carrier - see 1.

Regards,

BD
