Approved here, also. Easier than my previous attempt with ANZ, although they have definitely tightened up their application process over the last 2 years. It used to be a breeze.
 
@Ktan89 I got approved, finally and it was a pain Not sure what the guy who assessed my application is smoking, it can't be legal for sure. He called me every end of the week to request docs I would send after the week end. Three times in total. Doc requests didnt make any sense to me. My application is a no brainer, got approved everywhere no worries, but this guy....

The assessment team is suposedly busy and don't take phone calls. If they keep asking non sense supporting docs, I am not surprised.

I should precise I applied for the black qantas, I guess it's the same team that assess all cc applications.
I'm not the only one then.
Yes I have sent my pay slips 3 times now:
- last two pay slips (initial application)
- last two pay slips again + commission pay slip
- last 7 pay slips..
And then the most recent request they want my 3 months bank statement.

I wonder what else do they want, is it even secure, sending so many information to them.

I emailed them a firm email last Friday and still no response. I'm ready to cancel this application but I want them to void the credit check for my credit score.

I don't know if this helped, but I called ANZ and spoke to a general customer service rep (the cc assessment team can't be reach at the moment). He was rational, surprised at the number of docs I got asked for, surprised it take so long. He put a note to escalate my case. This might have been the reason why I got approved the next day.

It might be easier for you to finalize your application successfully rather than cancelling and asking they remove the credit check on your records in my opinion.

Thank you, your tip worked. I finally have my card today after i got approved Friday last week. I called them up and told them to get an assessor to contact me, a senior credit assessor called me and after explaining things to her she approved me. This just shows some of the reps have no brains to use logic sometimes and follows what the system is telling them. Anyway more than a month later and lots of my personal details stored in their email box later I got my card.
I better still get the same promotion because it's been a month expired when I got approved.
My GFs card got declined but I think I'm going to dispute it again and be with her on the phone. There is no reason why hers is declined because we just got our credit scores and she has no other cards or debts. They just kept telling her she didn't meet their criteria and won't tell her the reasoning. She's also held their cards twice in the past.

The email they sent me requesting payslips doesn't even specify HOW to provide these, you have to randomly click on a unrelated link to get to the income verification page.

Not to mention that there is zero functionality to speed up the process for existing ANZ customers. If I hadn't already taken the credit enquiry hit I would walk away from this card.

This is almost comical. I received a text message to let me know that "an Assessor will be calling me shortly to progress my application". 5 minutes later I get another text, and this is the full message: "Thank you for applying for an ANZ credit card. To proceed further, Please email us at (email removed) and quote your application reference number in the subject line of the email"

Ok, so are we pen pals now? Can't you even tell me WHY I need to email you? What information you need?

I can only assume that the assessor couldn't be asked to call, triggered the follow up text and again couldn't be bothered to include the right message template.

Not exactly impressing me here ANZ.

- ATO notice of assessment

Endless questions about why some pays are more than what I reported as my salary in the app :rolleyes: .... seriously? They’re worried I sometimes earn more?

Would have been easier to get another mortgage instead of this card.
 
The best thing about applying to this card is that you know you won't apply for it for at least another 14 months.

Far behind, the second best thing is the bonus signup 🤣

Yea they normally send this message after speaking to you on the phone, so that you know what to send. I got those messages after the calls. Send them an email to ask what they need (probably more payslips), asap, because it might take a few days to get an answer. In the meanwhile, if you feel like, call.

Yea they are so weird. My assessor couldnt' work out my salary on the payslip I sent, and ask for more payslips. On the phone I told him.... "but, my salary is written at the top left below my position, on each payslip.... why do you need more payslips".... I quickly gave up arguing as there is no point. I just sent the payslip, and then more docs, and then more docs.

Is this a general tightening in the credit card space or just ANZ being incompetent? I remember getting this card approved within 60 seconds during the application process and don't think I ever provided more than payslips for any credit card. You would think they'd be throwing cards at anyone they can in the current market, not to mention that $425 is a lot of money for a card that doesn't give much extras when you can't travel.

- Min spend met 19/08
- Points received 25/09 & account closure requested.

ANZ applications were a pain for me earlier in the year but this one was smooth sailing. Resetting the 12 month clock today.
 
Final update from my end, received a call and was told they could not offer me a card at this stage without me providing more payslips. The application would stay open for 85 days (oddly specific) and I could send them through anytime during this timeframe.

Within 30 seconds after hanging up received an email and text message saying that my application had been rejected and that I will also receive a letter.

Seriously ANZ, your communication is horrible and inconsistent. Not going to argue the outcome but the process left a bad taste, especially when I am an existing customer and clearly not at risk of defaulting.

I hope I didn’t take a credit hit for nothing.

I will be very unimpressed if I am declined after all the income evidence I provided (which matches my application). If they want to decline they should do it based on the application (unless the evidence doesn’t match the app of course).
