Anyone returning a Hertz car and flying out of LAX shortly?

I recently returned a Hertz rental to their LAX depot and flew out... Only problem was i rather sillily left my DSLR in the vehicle.. Grrrr...

I have about 20 days till they auction it off and the FedEx bill back to Australia would be getting up towards A$150-180 which is a little steep...

Have contacted the travel insurance company to see what they would kick in, but just wondering if anyone would be returning a car there and then flying back to Oz and see if i could work anything out??

I'll be at Hertz in the next day or two and am only a $5 Uber ride from there in any event.

I am however not planning on flying out anytime soon.

Happy to collect and hold until someone going through LAX can collect it from me. (Happy to rendezvous at In-N-Out to conduct the handover).

Any of those would be fantastic if we could arrange it... Diva if you could grab it and then I can work out how to retrieve from you...

I guess I would need to contact Hertz LAX and tell them of the arrangement so someone could pick up in my place...

I'll just work out with Hertz what sort of evidence i would need to supply so that they will release it..

They may need a letter of authorisation saying i can pick it up.

Yeah i have asked them on facebook so just waiting for a response, i figure maybe a copy of my driver's licence which they should be able to check against my reservation, a signed letter stating your details and that I have given you permission, a description of the camera plus a copy of one of the emails they have sent to me saying they have found my camera should put it beyond any doubt...

Sorry to be a PITA, but as easy as it sounds, it hasn't happened yet. This IS Hertz we are dealing with and they are never easy

I wanted to post this in here as a kind of a reminder to folks about doing stuff for others on the forum. I hope i don't offend you casanovawa. I will want to check and perhaps ask security to check in your camera bag. Im asked so many times did i pack my own bag so i guess i do worry about that aspect a bit. I dint even think of these until a few days ago cause my nature is just to do it.

So can check there is nothing bad in the bag. I wont be looking at the pics on the cam or anything like that.

Am i being paranoid or sensible? Id like here from others.

Yes, i did think about asking people to bring that back as to whether there could be that issue of bringing something back for others and the concerns, like when they ask did you pack your own bags etc...

The camera is just as is, no bag... If you know a bit about cameras you can take the lens off if you want, maybe just be careful not to let dust get on the sensor... Maybe get a dog to sniff it rather than crack it open to have a looksie... If you have any problems with security (which I don't think you will), there is the message trail to prove i put you up to it...

Oh and you can have a look at the pics, nothing saucy on there, i thought i got a few pretty good ones as we banked up out of sydney on departure to LAX...

Jobs done. Camera is on my tv stand at the Hilton LAX. Just a 15 min walk each way on a rather pleasant night.
Now i think i have a mate going to Perth next month and staying somewhere in the city. Whats your time frame like?

Time frame is pretty flexible, just booked a cheap fare to LA end of April so would be nice to have by then...

So March would be fine...

OK I asked my mate the other day about taking it with him to Perth in March and he is fine with it.
Ill get the hotel name and you can grab from reception during his stay.
