Lowest available fare is a full Y fare. Just book a return and dump the return.

No I understand. Even so that's way out there.

Given I have to stick to Y, and can do SQ for about a 10% of this fare, with a three day layover in SIN, I think my choice is pretty clear.

I often find this with Cathay when you are looking about 11 months or so out. I have found it will come down to a reasonable fare within a few weeks after.
