With the intent of maximising SC & points earn i wanted to book some QF coded flights on a US trip im planning. Event in SFO so trying to book a holiday around it.
I was thinking SYD-SFO-LAS(or LAX)-SYD and maybe HNL after LAX/LAS as well.
I searched some of these combinations on the QF site and when certain combinations are put in it says it cant do it at all, specifically if i put LAS in there. But say i put SYD-LAS-SYD or SYD-SFO-LAX-HNL-SYD there are flights using AA metal with QF flight number.
eg
QF3192, QF3221 SFO-LAX
QF3155, QF3183 LAX-LAS
QF3116 LAS-LAX &
QF3060 LAX-HNL

So does that mean there is no way to book these together or is it just the QF system cant handle it? If i went to a travel agent and said these are the flight numbers will they be able to book this?
Are QF not allowed to sell this type of routing as one ticket. Given it offers SFO-LAX-HNL (all stops not transits) all on QF codes i wouldnt think its related to QF not having the right to do US domestic flights or is that the exact reason?

I also assume if this is possible that i can do some of this mixed class as well. Eg Y+ or J on the QF metal long haul sectors and Y on the domestic short ones.

I was thinking of asking a travel agent but thought some here might have some experience or know of a way to get these exact flights online.

Re: Any way to select the code share flights i want that aret available via QF websit

QF can't sell its code on US domestic flights without there being an international flight on the same ticket. QF also tends to want a flight to/from AU on the same ticket, but a travel agent should be able to do it provided there is an international flight.

I've been putting together a RTW trip plan which I'm going to send off to the travel agent in the next few days. After changes to the oneworld RTW fare rules and AA booking fare codes, I've put in as many QF codeshares as possible. Of the 6 US domestic AA flights on the main RTW ticket (BOS-JFK-LAX-SEA-ORD-DTW-PHL), 4 have QF codes.
I also have a LAX-SFO-LAX side trip, which I'd like to use the QF codes for. In theory I should be able to because it should be a "conjunction ticket" related to the RTW ticket, but I'm not completely sure that they'll allow those 2 flights to be on the QF codeshare.

Re: Any way to select the code share flights i want that aret available via QF websit

So if im starting in SYD to SFO with QF73 and likely returning on QF12 from LAX or QF4 from HNL there would be an international flight on the ticket so that should be ok then.
QF gives me SFO-LAX as an option on QF code and LAX-HNL (although perhaps they count that as international) so in theory it sounds like i can do everything i want its just a limitation on the QF booking engine.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would ask here first.

Does anyone know the rules as to when the QF12 JFK-LAX can be booked. I am hoping my potential itinerary would allow it.

Looking at a DCIR26 BNE-xSYD-xDFW-CLT-JFK-xLAX-HNL-xNRT-HKG-BNE

Would like to fly on QF12 JFK--LAX, arrive in the late evening, then fly out first thing in the morning (less than 23 hrs) to HNL. I believe that I probably up for an extra stopover in the US (presuming HNL still counts as US), and am within the 26,000 miles (according to Mileage Monkey).

Would be looking to book as many flights as QF codeshares as well. Is the SYD-DFW on QF sufficient to book the QF12 JFK-LAX on the same ticket, even though not connecting on QF back to Australia?

Remember not all AA flights have QF codeshares... and, as noted above, one can only book them in conjunction with international QF sectors to/from the USA.

The best bet is to do this via a good TA who can product a single PNR allowing the use of domestic sectors as QF codeshares.

Thanks - I have checked which code shares are available, and am good with that, and realised the need for a QF international sector to be on the ticket. What I really need to know is the QF12 section subject to the same rules, or is it different? As this is a QF operated flight, exactly which freedoms does it have, and is a previous QF international sector SYD-DFW on the ticket sufficient to all use of JFK-LAX without then connecting back to Oz?

According to a QF chat agent, it only requires a QF flight either to or from US to book QF flights within USA on the same ticket - no difference for QF code shares or QF metal. Not sure I fully trust the response, but unless anyone knows that to be wrong, I will go with it for now.

The rules would allow the following routing, SYD-DFW-JFK-LAX-SFO-SYD, all on QF (codeshares on DFW-JFK and LAX-SFO), with stopovers in DFW, NYC, LAX and SFO.

All that the LAX-JFK-LAX sector of QF11/12 requires is that an international flight to/from the US be on the same ticket. QF additionally wants such a flight to be to/from AU on QF. You can have stopovers in LAX and or NY between flights.

Thanks all. I thought it would be OK, but wanted to check, given I won't be on QF metal into JFK or out of LAX - but will have the QF SYD-DFW which sets up the eligibility.

PM me your full itinerary (dates, flight numbers) and I'll check if it will let me issue a ticket for it (I'm curious what the answer is as well).

The QF11 LAX-JFK and QF12 JFK-LAX rules are a bit funny. The worst case is I will ask QF industry ticketing for you to get you a definitive answer.

Is that an open offer? I still have issues getting the fare i want to quote on the qf site.

Sure go for it. I'll even ticket it for you if it's a permitted routing.

Awesome, let me come back to you later tonight or tomorrow with a PM of my plans.
Would be awesome to know if its possible and get a price expectation.
