I noticed an ad in the business section of The Age this morning.

It refers to 'Ansett Airlines of Australia' with a slogan of 'the pheonix?'

The website (www.ansettairlines.com.au) only has a contact form and a picture of a plane.

Anyone know anything about this? I am intrigued.

Talk about dreaming...

Ad appears to have been placed by an Advertising Company called BravoTangoBravo : About Us | Bravo Tango Bravo

Appears the Director there is a bit of an anti-Qantas person.... and had a bit of a rant on the company blog: BLOG | Bravo Tango Bravo There appears to be another rant against Jetstar on the Qantas Pilots site as well.

Apart from being in advertising and generally posting some anti-Qantas/Jetstar rants, can't see anything that makes me think Peter Schooling has anything more than a school boy dream...

From a basic search, the domain was registered by a Peter Schooling of BravoTangoBravo advertising in Melbourne by a company "Ansett Airlines of Australia PL" which was formed in July 2011.

Not sure what the go is with it, but given its been registered by an exec from what seems to be a small advertising company, I can't see anything eventuating from it.

Ansett MK III

Awoke this morning reading the Age, and low and behold in the business section is an ad for Ansett.
With a 787 in a snappy new Ansett Livery.

The link goes to:
Ansett Airlines Australia

Seems like some pre launch hype marketing.

Time to dust off our old Golden Wing cards? or just another failed attempt at another airline in Australia?

So who has the scoop on this one?

And if the pic on the website is their best work, not a particularly good agency.

Gotta agree looks half baked at best.... Grammatically I hate the "Ansett - Airlines of Australia" Unless of course they are planning to release a range of new airlines! :)

Ansett Airlines of Australia is of course the historically correct name, they had quite a few AOCs in the cupboard when the crunch came.

The livery pic makes it look like the tail is held on by a ribbon. On second thoughts.....

Re: Ansett MK III

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh If only Ansett was still around and had been taken over by a Decent Airline not a Sheepish one I for one would be so much happier.

Wonder if Clive Plamer is going to reserect Ansett just like the Titanic ( Titanic 11 to eb built in China)

Re: Ansett MK III

It's hard to say if Ansett Mark 3 would actually do well. I would guess that for it to get the customer base it would most likely need to use the late 90's livery.
They would also probably need to find a way of convincing suppliers that they are not Ansett Mark 1, as that's what killed Ansett Mark 2. (They where forced to pre-pay for things where normally a credit arrangement would be offered).

That said, the "suggested" livery on the website makes me think it is the beginning of some year 11 graphic design students project...

Re: Ansett MK III

Hi Guys,

I decided to fill in their contact form to see what would come back, recieved this:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email in relation to Ansett Airlines of Australia.

The ad was simply ‘exploratory’ - to gauge if there was any serious parties with a genuine interest in re-establishing the Ansett brand in one form or other.

For those that enquired about possible job opportunities, unfortunately nothing exists at this stage. The Phoenix headline was designed to ensure people didn’t assume the airline was relaunching – we certainly didn’t want to raise hopes for employment, especially in the current market environment.

Once again, many thanks for your interest and comments – it’s clear the Ansett brand is still held in high esteem and has a particularly loyal following.

Kind regards

Re: Ansett MK III

It brings back memories of Bob Ansett running through the terminal with a giant pair of scissors..

Re: Ansett MK III

Any chance if they come back, I can use my half a mill. points?
I've still got the paperwork somewhere!

Re: Ansett MK III

''The only small part I could play would be to gladly sign over … the name and livery plus provide marketing, advertising and PR support to any Australian group that demonstrated a serious intent to get the Ansett brand re-established.''

So basically the guy registered a company name, domain name,
and now wants to sell it (no doubt at a profit) to someone else who will have to do all the hard work!

Re: Ansett MK III

1500 views and 200 emails I wouldn’t say is that much interest.

I would assume that he doesn’t own the logo though… and obviously even if he were able to piece it all back together, there’s no space in terminals for this. Actually, a second SYD airport is sounding good right about now :p
