was the airbus order in place already ?

Most big airlines fly both airbus & boeing.

I think the repercussions from the 737 MAX fiasco are only barely starting to show. It is indeed true that airbus cannot fill the gap, but this will still give Boeing an absolute hiding.

Boeing haven't actually sold any 737s since this fiasco started. The IAG (BA) order that they made such a big deal about, isn't an order at all, simply a statement of intent. My bet is that it will never come to fruition, but it provides IAG with some negotiating potential against both B and A.

I'll bet some are looking at the 757 line (or where it existed) longingly.

I'm just the messenger, don't shoot me... You could check the TPG site to make your own mind up.

Sorry I was referring to the OP who peddles the global economic collapse every couple of posts and in this case they actually are ordering planes, just not 737s! (As you pointed out)

I honestly think the 737 MAX line will bounce back once Boeing sorts this issue out. The original 737 line had a serious rudder issue that resulted in two crashes that killed everyone aboard and several 'near misses'. It was also attributable to design decisions made by Boeing. But the 737 and Boeing more generally did bounce back from it.

The rudder issues were all in the G O Ds...before the internet. I'd forgotten about the rudder. Perhaps I'll go looking for A320s in future too.

What seta the 737-MAX issues apart from many other issues is a simple question. How did nobody notice it was a faulty design?

You have to look hard to find something similar. Where the obvious flaws stare everyone in the face, and yet no one notices.

It isn't hard to find similar flaws. The rudder issue just mentioned was a classic. And who would have thought that testing a pure oxygen environment at about 20psi would be a good idea...and yet NASA did.
