Interesting that the article in 'SMH' says it will take 'about two weeks' to fix A388 VH-OQB. Our aviator had estimated 'one to three weeks'.

With the fleet down to nine - unless one of the other two at Dresden or Abu Dhabi returns - this will mean two weeks of cancellations (although as mentioned previously, perhaps 'the 35/36' MEL to SIN and return could become A333s/A332s.)

QF1 is cancelled on Monday, so it looks like QF35/36 will continue as planned A380 ops.

QF2 ex LHR on Tuesday night 12 November 2019 (the 2035 hours) is not yet displaying as 'cancelled' on the QF website, but logically it must be.

The A380 assigned to yesterday's Dallas flight had a door ripped off yesterday in an odd maintenance incident. Apparently things went wrong when it was being towed out of a hangar.

They are saying it will be out for 2 weeks, but looking at the photos, it appears severely damaged and doesn't look like an easy repair. I imagine this will have some broad flow on impacts for some time. Anyone caught up in this?

I'm no expert but hard to see it being fixed and tested within 2 weeks...have to find a spare door first. i guess Airbus sell this and can fly it from their Toulouse factory?

VH-OEH (B747) is also out of action. Another long delay for the QF25 passengers.

QF25 9th November - delayed 16hrs 30min
QF25 10th November - delayed 17hrs

GO QANTAS!

Although this quote doesn't seem right.
"The airline already has two A380s on the ground undergoing refurbishment in Brisbane and Abu Dhabi, in the Middle East. "

Half correct.

OQJ is in AUH getting refurbishment and is due back 7th Dec
OQH is in DRS getting refurbishment and is due back 10th Dec

OQG will go in after the holiday period and will be back 20th Apr

Excellent thread - but also being discussed here (particularly in relation to the cancellations and delays that today also included a lengthy wait for QF63 patrons:

Is it correct that at the peak of the December/Christmas school holidays, with QF127/QF128 SYD-HKG - SYD an A388 (though due to the downturn in bookings, for a shorter time than originally envisaged, to the chagrin of at least one AFFer who'd booked), 11 of the 12 will be required by the timetable?

Normally it is 10/12 needed.

It's looking like a good thing I have no more QF operated flights this trip other then a Dash 8 for the last sector?

If they hadn't kept deferring and cancelling those 787s, they could have had 35ish of 115 by now.

Down to 6 747s and, with the current timings, HND uses 2 of them. A single aircraft return trip of around 36 hours. By delaying 25 overnight, and not parking an aircraft in Tokyo all day, they can bring that down to around 22 hours and free up an aircraft or recover lost time. Easiest way to recover from major delays somewhere on the network.
