In my journey as a professional churner one of my most recent acquisitions had a 295 annual fee first year.

I spent the required amount in 1 day, was issued points within 1 week, credited my card with the amount to close the account including the annual fee and requested to close.

Unsure if this is because it was before the first month, but in system it could also be earlier however a refund of my annual fee was triggered.

End result 90k points plus refund of first year fee.

Let’s know name companies here and it may just stick around for time to come.

Do people prefer to churn this card after the 90K bonus points rather than wait another year for the extra 30K? I was going to wait but considering they give you a pro-rata refund, it has me thinking.

Citibank also do it.
Didn t know. Is ther something special to get pro rata reimbursed, or is it meant to happen by itself? Maybe it s a recent change prompt by NAB aquisition of citibank australia consumer business branch?

Not really. Cancelled after bonus points post. Called up to request pro rata refund. They sent a cheque refunding 11/12th of annual fee. Never received cheque. Called up again. They refunded full annual fee as a courtesy for screwing up the cheque. Deposited next day into my bank account. 100K QFF for $0.

Just churned Citibank in under a month, paid full fee and never got refund. Is this something you have to call for?

Just my 2 cents worth, posting and gloating about saving a few bucks here and there for bonus sign on points only alerts the CC provider to tighten up or change their rules. I would suggest that that we go back to the first rule of 'fight club' ;)

Yes 100% churn. Ignore these offers which give a smaller amount of points for paying the 2nd year annual fee. Cancel and get the exclusion period clock ticking so you can get the card again sooner.

Well I did Mention not to mention the provider, but it was swiftly mentioned next post.

Here inlies the problem, your first 4 sentences was the gloat, your 5th sentence was the kicker, asking "Let’s know name companies here and it may just stick around for time to come." is most likely to be the quickest way to shut down loopholes.

If you haven't seen the movie 'fight club (1999)' watch it and you may understand my comment above.

100%

I never understand why some people flag up loopholes they have discovered on the Internet. They are usually not the first people to have discovered them, but often it means they are the last...

I also don't understand why people who are milking the system would phone up to see whether they can get a little bit more. I feel like the lower profile we keep, the better.

I disagree.

The cat is already well and truly out of the bag. Literally every post on OzBargain, which has an audience orders of magnitude larger than an AFF post, mentions it.

If it gets shut down, it gets shut down. That's the nature of this game — helpful hints are constantly being found and shut down.
